[Help] font family and cursor style config not effective

Running ghostty 1.1.2 (build 9416) on macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, I have the following config in ~/.config/ghostty/config (I also tried ~/Library/Application Support/com.mitchellh.ghostty/config but still the same):

font-size=16
font-family="JetBrains Mono Medium"
cursor-style=block
cursor-style-blink=false

"JetBrains Mono Medium" is from command ghostty +list-fonts.

This is how it looks in ghostty:

And this is how it looks in iTerm2 (v3.5.11):

Problems

• The font size looks fine, but the "medium" font style is not effective, to me the font rendered in ghostty is thinner than iTerm2.
• The cursor is still a bar, not the expected "block", and it is still blinking, which is also not expected.

I noticed that the resulting config of command ghostty +show-config:

font-family = JetBrains Mono Medium
font-family-bold = JetBrains Mono Medium
font-family-italic = JetBrains Mono Medium
font-family-bold-italic = JetBrains Mono Medium
font-size = 16
cursor-style-blink = false
command = /bin/zsh
click-repeat-interval = 500
auto-update-channel = stable

cursor-style is missing.

What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

JetBrains Mono Medium is not a font name, it's a font name and a font style. You probably want something like this:

font-family = JetBrains Mono
font-family-bold = JetBrains Mono
font-family-italic = JetBrains Mono
font-family-bold-italic = JetBrains Mono
font-style = Medium
font-style-bold = Medium
font-style-italic = Medium
font-style-bold-italic = Medium

You may also be interested in font-thicken and font-thicken-strength.

font-style-italic = Bold

This will disable italics; perhaps you want:

font-style = Bold
font-style-bold = Bold
font-style-italic = Bold Italic
font-style-bold-italic = Bold Italic

In case you didn't see the note in cursor-style already:

Note that shell integration will automatically set the cursor to a bar at a prompt, regardless of this configuration. You can disable that behavior by specifying shell-integration-features = no-cursor or disabling shell integration entirely.
