How do you use Sentry?

Steps to Reproduce

1. Add a @ai_track decorator to a function
2. Call that function with an unexpected argument
3. Run mypy to check the code
4. Run the code to see the error in sentry

Expected Result

mypy should return the following error:
error: Unexpected keyword argument "keyword" for "function" [call-arg]

Sentry traces should show the error

Actual Result

mypy returns
'Success: no issues found'

Sentry only raises the error within the parent transaction and not in the main traces page.

Actually, the decorator @ai_track is messing entirely with types:

mypy does not recognise the function's types: arguments and return types

Sentry only raises the error within the parent transaction and not in the main traces page.

I am unsure what exactly you mean – could you perhaps provide screenshots and/or links to the pages you are referring to?

I was able to repro the mypy issue with this:

from sentry_sdk.ai.monitoring import ai_track

sentry_sdk.init(

    debug=True,
)

@ai_track("my tool")
def tool(name: str) -> None:
    pass

@ai_track("some test pipeline")
def pipeline(name: str) -> None:
    tool(name=name)

with sentry_sdk.start_transaction(name="ai-track-test"):
    pipeline()

There's definitely a problem with mypy <above_file> not detecting any problems even though pipeline() is incorrectly called without any arguments.

Re: the other part of this issue (propagation of errors in traces), like Daniel above, I'm unsure what exactly you're observing @ahoussemand -- I ran my small app above both with the @ai_track decorators as well as without and I see both error events (one reported by ai_monitoring, the other by plain excepthook) and their respective traces are showing up as errored. If the problem still persists, can you open a new issue specifically for that with more info, please, so that we can tackle it separately?
