perf(cake_gdn_det): packed-triangular forward WY program at five CTAs per SM on B200 and GB300 - #8615
flashinfer.experimental.cake_gdn_det_train is FlashInfer's deterministic Gated DeltaNet chunked training kernel. Its outputs and gradients are bitwise reproducible. The forward WY stage builds the per-chunk WY representation (w and u). The forward pass uses it, and the backward pass recomputes it. This PR adds a new compiled program for that stage on sm_100a (B200) and sm_103a (GB300) that runs five CTAs per SM instead of four. It keeps the triangular L^T / X tiles in a packed lower-triangular layout and uses 64 tensor-memory columns, so each CTA needs about 43.6 KB of shared memory and 87 registers. On B200 and GB300, every launch of this stage uses the new program, both in the forward pass and in the backward recompute. As a result, every row below changes its launches. sm_107a (R200) is unchanged: its compiled programs and launches are identical to FlashInfer main. All other stages are unchanged, and outputs and gradients are bitwise identical to the previous version. The baseline is the previous version of this kernel on current FlashInfer main (speedup = main / this PR, so >1 is faster; median over 56 interleaved clean-process cells). The forward pass is faster on every row on both GPUs: 1.028x to 1.044x on B200 and 1.025x to 1.046x on GB300. For forward + backward, B200 measures 1.007x to 1.015x on 14 rows and 1.000x on 3 x ~4.25k 8 / 16. GB300 measures 1.008x to 1.018x on 14 rows and 0.990x on 1 x 16384 8 / 16. In this run, the 95 % confidence interval of the f+b ratio includes 1.0 on seven B200 rows and two GB300 rows, so those rows are within measurement noise here. The B200 rows are 4 x 4096 8 / 16, 3 x ~4.25k 8 / 16, 15 x ~4.3k 8 / 16, 1 x 16384 8 / 16, 16 x 4096 16 / 32, 11000 + 12000 + 9768 16 / 48, and 2 seqs 259174 tokens 2 / 6. The GB300 rows are 4 x 4096 8 / 16 and 1 x 16384 8 / 16. A repeat measurement of exactly those rows, shown in the last table, finds f+b faster on both GB300 rows and on four of the seven B200 rows. The other three B200 rows remain within noise. No row in either run was slower beyond measurement noise.
NVIDIA B200 (sm_100a, 148 SMs), CUDA 13.4 (torch 2.14.1+cu130): BF16 inputs, head dim 128, chunk 64; forward + backward (f+b) and forward (fwd) per call, ms (median over 56 interleaved clean-process cells); speedup = FlashInfer main / this PR.

This PR leaves the kernel's other variants unchanged (FP32 and BF16 beta/dbeta forms, HV = H, 2H and 3H head groups, split scan plans, serial-scan tail_g3 plans, and the w2/e4/e8 wavefront forms), and the kernel ships on sm_100a (B200), sm_103a (GB300) and sm_107a (R200).
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added support for additional GPU architectures in the experimental training workflow, with architecture-specific WY-stage selection.
Existing output behavior remains bitwise equivalent across the documented architecture variants.
Documentation
Clarified when aligned and unaligned inputs use different preparation paths and which WY implementation is used on each supported architecture.
…_100a and sm_103a
New stage wy_tc2 with record wy_tc2 (sm_100a, sm_103a): the forward WY program that keeps the
packed lower-triangular fp32 L^T and X in 64 TMEM columns and fits five CTAs per SM (87 registers,
43,648 B shared memory per CTA). Its outputs are bitwise those of wy_tc. Record wy_tc2_sm_107a
serves the stage on sm_107a with the wy_tc program. No other library changes, and no launch
changes in this commit.
…_100a and sm_103a
On sm_100a and sm_103a (WY_TC2_ARCHS) every wy_tc launch now runs wy_tc2: the forward, both sequence
groups of the P form and the backward's recompute. wy_tc2 has the same grid, arguments and bits as
wy_tc and fits five CTAs per SM where wy_tc fits four. sm_107a launches exactly as before.
The WY stage now uses architecture-based dispatch: sm_100a and sm_103a select wy_tc2, while sm_107a selects wy_tc. The change adds module and library records, a generated binding, documentation, and tests for dispatch and output equivalence.

Stage selection and contract flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/cake_chain.py, flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/cake_jit.py, flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/README.md
wy_stage(arch) selects wy_tc2 on sm_100a and sm_103a, and wy_tc otherwise. WY launch paths use the selector. The documentation describes the stages and their architecture coverage.
Module and generated library registration flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/cake_jit.py, flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/csrc/cake_gdn_det_train_969371cd5760127281dd_binding.cu, flashinfer/experimental/cake_gdn_det_train/build.json
The registry adds SM100/SM103 wy_tc2 metadata and an SM107 record using the existing wy_tc kernel. The generated binding validates inputs and launches the kernel. Build metadata adds the SM100 and SM103 library records.
Dispatch and output validation tests/experimental/test_cake_gdn_det_train.py
Tests verify registry contents, architecture-specific selection, and device-resolved launch expectations. A saved-state and recompute test compares outputs and gradients from the selected stage with wy_tc bitwise.

Explanation
The title names the main change: a packed-triangular forward WY program that runs five CTAs per SM on B200 and GB300, under the cake_gdn_det scope. The raw summary covers the new wy_tc2 program for sm_100a/sm_103a, its routing of forward WY launches, and the sm_107a path staying on wy_tc. The title matches that change. It is a single line and omits the bitwise-equivalence and test details, which the title does not need to carry. The title is long at 94 characters, but it stays specific.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description covers the purpose of the kernel, the new WY program, the affected architectures (sm_100a and sm_103a, with sm_107a unchanged), the performance tables for B200 and GB300, and a repeat measurement. It also states that outputs and gradients are bitwise identical. It does not fill in the repository template's required sections. The Related Issues section is missing, and the pre-commit and test checklist items are not ticked or addressed. The Experimental Track section is also left blank, though the PR touches flashinfer/experimental/ and so needs that section. The experimental-tests fence still holds its placeholder comments, so no test targets are declared. The PR objectives mention a test run requested by a bot, but the description gives no test results. The description's content is thorough and specific, but the template sections are incomplete.
Resolution
Complete the template sections the PR needs. (1) Fill in Related Issues with the tracking issue or state that none exists. (2) Tick the pre-commit and test checklist items after running them, and state the test results. (3) Because the PR adds code under flashinfer/experimental/, complete the Experimental Track section. Name the tracking issue, and confirm each checklist item. Confirm that nothing is registered in flashinfer/aot.py and that the experimental backend is not reachable from backend="auto" without the environment variable. (4) Replace the placeholder lines in the experimental-tests fence with the real test targets under tests/experimental/, such as tests/experimental/test_cake_gdn_det_train.py. (5) Optionally, use Reviewer Notes for the B200 rows that remain within noise.

flashinfer.experimental.cake_gdn_det_trainis FlashInfer's deterministic Gated DeltaNet chunked training kernel. No row in either run was slower beyond measurement noise.NVIDIA B200 (sm_100a, 148 SMs), CUDA 13.4 (torch 2.14.1+cu130): BF16 inputs, head dim 128, chunk 64; forward + backward (f+b) and forward (fwd) per call, ms (median over 56 interleaved clean-process cells); speedup = FlashInfer main / this PR.
NVIDIA GB300 (sm_103a, 152 SMs), CUDA 13.4 (torch 2.14.1+cu130; driver 580.159.03): BF16 inputs, head dim 128, chunk 64; forward + backward (f+b) and forward (fwd) per call, ms (median over 56 interleaved clean-process cells); speedup = FlashInfer main / this PR.
Repeat measurement of the rows within noise above, on NVIDIA B200 (sm_100a, 148 SMs) and NVIDIA GB300 (sm_103a, 152 SMs), CUDA 13.4 (torch 2.14.1+cu130): fresh run on another node of the same GPU type, same settings (BF16 inputs, head dim 128, chunk 64; f+b per call, ms; median over 56 interleaved clean-process cells); speedup = FlashInfer main / this PR. Rows marked "within noise" have a 95 % confidence interval that includes 1.0.
