📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Add a trace= argument to @flashinfer_api.
bsa_attn_sm120_blk64_sage_fwd takes tensor inputs and returns a tensor. The coding guidelines require: "Every public API decorated with @flashinfer_api should also carry a trace= argument so that fi_trace() works and auto-dump produces a benchmark definition JSON." Add a trace template that names the dimensions of q_int8, k_int8, v_fp8, the scale tensors, and the output.
As per coding guidelines, public APIs under flashinfer/**/*.py decorated with @flashinfer_api must carry trace=. Based on learnings, trace= applies here because the inputs and outputs are tensors.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Validate the device and contiguity of a caller-supplied out.
Lines 451-458 check only the dtype and shape of out. Line 491 then applies out.permute(2, 3, 1, 0) and line 499 calls to_cute_tensor(..., leading_dim=1), which assumes stride == 1 on the head-dim axis. A non-contiguous out, or an out on a different CUDA device, therefore reaches the kernel without a check. Every input tensor already passes through _require_contiguous_cuda. Apply the same check to out.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Make SM12x capability checks consistent. The quantization helpers accept only compute capability (12, 0), while the attention path and tests allow any SM12x device. On an SM121 device, the tests can run and then fail inside quantization. Either allow the quantization helpers to support all devices admitted by the attention path, or narrow the attention and test gates to (12, 0) and update the skip reason accordingly.

Most of the last round landed. Four things left on 1. Conflicts with
|
…64_sage_fwd Resolves conflict with flashinfer-ai#5083 (contiguous_block_indices warning) by merging both backend descriptions into a single docstring that states all three behaviours: trusted-without-checking under cake, silently wrong if set incorrectly, silently ignored under cute_dsl.
The docstring merge for bsa_attn_sm120_blk64_sage_fwd (resolving the conflict with upstream flashinfer-ai#5083) introduced two inconsistencies: - The `out` parameter description picked up a "neither reads nor writes storage beyond it" clause that only makes sense for tma_descriptor_workspace (which is genuinely unused), not for `out` (which is where the kernel writes its result). - The Notes section said backend="cute_dsl" "does not accept" the uniform_block_count/contiguous_block_indices flags, contradicting the Parameters section (and actual behavior, verified by a live call) that they are accepted but silently ignored.
The comment explaining why kv_stage is fixed at 1 claimed the kernel "leaves insufficient resources on SM120 to open a second pipeline stage" without evidence. A reviewer noted the shared-memory math does not actually support that claim (K 8KB + V 8KB doubled is still well under the ~100KB/SM budget). Replace it with numbers measured on SM120 hardware (ncu) and cross-checked via an offline CuTe-DSL compile (dump_to_object + cuobjdump --dump-resource-usage), for both kv_stage=1 and kv_stage=2: - kv_stage=1: 230 regs/thread, 41KB dynamic smem/block -- both cap occupancy at 2 blocks/SM. - kv_stage=2: compiles fine (56KB/block, still far under the per-block opt-in max); registers stay ~unchanged (232 regs/thread, independently cross-checked), but smem now caps occupancy at 1 block/SM. So kv_stage=2 is not blocked by capacity -- it is a net occupancy regression (2 -> 1 blocks/SM) because smem becomes the binding constraint. kv_stage=1 is the higher-occupancy choice, not "the only value that fits".
Pin the default backend and add coverage for previously-untested inputs and validation added in the last review round: - test_vsa_sm120_sage_default_backend_is_cake: omitting `backend` entirely must still hit the cake-specific error path. Verified this fails if the default is changed to "cute_dsl". - test_vsa_sm120_sage_block_sparse_num_zero_scalar: block_sparse_num=0 without q2k_block_nums (has_block_nums=False), distinct from the existing empty_row test which goes through q2k_block_nums (has_block_nums=True). - test_vsa_sm120_sage_softmax_scale_guard: negative/zero/NaN/inf softmax_scale must raise ValueError. - test_vsa_sm120_sage_out_wrong_device_guard / test_vsa_sm120_sage_out_non_contiguous_guard / test_vsa_sm120_sage_inputs_not_on_current_device_guard: the device/contiguity guards added this round. The device-mismatch tests use a CPU `out` and a mocked torch.cuda.current_device() rather than a second physical GPU, since the checks are plain device-index/contiguity comparisons -- this keeps them from silently skipping on single-GPU CI. All new checks were verified to actually fail when their corresponding source-side validation is removed.

…ge claim - bsa_attn_sm120.py: drop the pre-flashinfer-ai#5127 uint8/128-byte-alignment wording from tma_descriptor_workspace, match main's post-flashinfer-ai#5127 "accepted for compatibility and unused" description while keeping the backend="cake" required / backend="cute_dsl" ignored notes. - flash_fwd_sm120_sage.py: remove the unverified "not a net win" verdict on kv_stage=2; keep only the measured ncu occupancy regression (2 -> 1 blocks/SM) and note that whether a deeper pipeline's latency hiding offsets it is unmeasured without a runtime comparison.

Port Block-Sparse-Attention's native SM120 Sage kernel (custom INT8 warp MMA for QK, native FP8 warp MMA for PV, log2-domain online softmax) and its Triton quantization kernels (per-32-token-group Q, mean-centered per-K64-tile K, per-channel V with a 16-token physical permutation for the PV MMA operand layout) into flashinfer as new standalone functions:
bsa_attn_sm120_blk64_sage_fwdandquantize_sage_{q,kv,qkv}_sm120.NOTE: this is a standalone function family, not wired into
flashinfer.BlockSparseAttentionWrapper/_vsa_run_core. It does not compute LSE and only supports MHA (num_kv_heads == num_heads), matching upstream Block-Sparse-Attention's current capability. Wiring it into the wrapper would additionally require: LSE support in the kernel, scale_q/ scale_k/scale_v passthrough in_vsa_run_core, and reconciling this function's BHSD tensor layout with_vsa_run_core's BSHD convention -- none of that is implemented here.Adds test coverage (accuracy vs. dense FP32 reference, ragged seqlen, empty sparse rows, block_sizes in all 3 modes, GQA/dtype/shape guards, and a position-sensitive test that exercises every branch of the V 16-token permutation to catch a permutation/PRMT mismatch that random end-to-end data would silently average away).
