As of #13 this problem is still here.
I have the same issue, when I load into a route that takes some time, any loading templates wouldn't load, but if you do it by URL it works.

I believe this to be working with latest Ember and resolver.

Please provide a repo that we can test with.

Just fixed by updating the ember-cli project from 0.28 to 0.32
