Can properly sync or verify recovery key only if using VPN. Is it making a connection to some easily blocked domain such as matrix.org?

Partially fixed in 1.7.1 (117). I'm able to verify without using VPN, although the wait at welcome screen before being allowed to change homeserver at all is still unbearably long unless at least Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 is turned on.

Syncing without VPN is still problematic, though. Logs have been sent.
