Code and functionality LGTM. I'm 50/50 on adding another request for each health check for only tribe nodes, it does keep the code clean though and won't have much impact. Is there an in between, after the status goes from no living connections to online this could live? |

I suppose we could determine from the node list used by the version check if we can safely skip the tribe-node check. Might be worth it simply so we keep memory pressure from increasing too fast (health check has been blamed for doing that in the past) |

So far this PR looks good to me. If we think we can reduce the number of calls by utilizing the node list than I think that would be a good win so long as it doesn't add too much complexity. |

I took several shots at implementing something that didn't conflate the version and tribe checks in illogical ways and ended up with: https://github.com/spalger/kibana/tree/implement/complicated-check-for-tribe It works, only executes the "node checks" when the node info changes, and is tested, but it has a flaw: if load balancers, or dns, or anything outside of the cluster causes the client to connect to a tribe node Kibana will never realize it. |

These changes have been open for QA ahead of time on [this draft PR](elastic#224382). Almost all changes were done on EUI side. The changes to form elements were done in elastic/eui#8767 and elastic/eui#8778. When kibana discovers that the
elasticsearch.urlpoints to a tribe node the elasticsearch plugin will now set it's status toredso that Kibana is incapacitated. This is done as a part of health check, rather than at startup, as the elasticsearch node that theelasticsearch.urlpoints to can change over time.The
tribe-node-supportbranch will eventually include a supported method of using tribe nodes, but this step gives us the ability to point users into that configuration once it's defined.
