/compact triggers compact twice when context window reached 90%

What happened?

when mannally trigger the command /compact and the context window is low,
auto compact will be triggered too
and when it finished,it will contine to try to compact again
however, it will never stop until you press esc.
after pressing esc ,it says Error: Compaction failed: Already compacted

Steps to reproduce

1. wait for a agent to reach 90% context window
2. /compact

Additional context: This only happens when sending /compact while the agent is mid-response (i.e., while it's still generating/thinking). If you wait for the response to finish, /compact works fine.

im not sure if its related or just me but im constantly getting codex servers overloaded when trying to compact and it bricks the chat.
