Eve's Night OS (Gnome)

Customized Gnome desktop environment theme configuration

This is a Gnome version for the Eve's Night Theme I originally made for AwesomeWM. Don't get me wrong, Awesome is awesome (no, really? 🙄), but to be honest I have more interesting and important things to do than maintaining my AwesomeWM configuration dotfiles... And since before using tiling window managers, my favorite DE was Gnome, well, that's how the idea was born.

  • Automatic wallpaper changer after a certain amount of time
  • Tiling mode with the ability to toggle floating for individual and all windows
  • Gnome combined with LightDM and betterlockscreen
  • Desktop previewer if hovering over the lowest part of the sidebar (like in Windows)
  • Multiple widgets for the sidebar including a weather widget
  • Elegant GTK Graphite Dark Teal/Green Nord theme
  • Sidebar automatically hides and displays depending on the event

Since it is based on the original Eve'sNight Theme for AwesomeWM, many dependencies remain the same such as zsh and its extensions, unimatrix, lightdm, etc. So instead this refers to the necessary extensions for Gnome.

Extension What does it do?
Blur my Shell It allows to add blur to different parts of the GNOME Shell.
Dash to Panel It allows to move and customize the taskbar (sidebar).
Desk Changer It allows to change the wallpaper given certain metrics.
Open Weather It allows to display the weather forecast as a tray icon on the sidebar.
Unite It allows to make multiple tweaks but I personally only use it to remove window titlebars.
User Themes It allows to set your own theme for the GNOME Shell.
Pamac Updates Indicator It allows to display in the sidebar (and as notifications) available system updates.
Pop Shell GNOME Shell based on PopOS to allow tiling mode.
Removable Drive Menu It allows displaying connected drives on the sidebar.

The installation is pretty staightforward, you can use the extensions application or link your system directly with the Gnome extensions website.

  • Find a way to isolate workspaces to add specific wallpapers to each one and so that when the tiling mode is changed, it changes only on the current workspace and not all of them.
