The code-mirror pipeline isn't used anymore in main and sourcebuild jobs passed in dotnet/runtime#113328 so I'm not sure we need this for 8.0 |

@akoeplinger Do you envision any extreme case where we would have to use either pipeline at some point, at least temporarily? If not, then I should just close the PR. |

yeah I'd close the PR. if we need to move the source-build jobs off of 18.04 then I think the source-build team should handle that across all branches |

We are seeing runtime CI results in 8.0 that fail with BadExit due to operation not permitted to write to disk. Example: https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/pull/113328/checks?check_run_id=38659577258
This PR is similar to dotnet/runtime#113441 , but makes changes to common files.
