Use LIKE '%my%%path%%segment%' pattern for query that will yield the DB row needed much more likely than a query with the unaltered path segment in the WHERE clause.

Empty values need to result in a query for "", not "%%".
Force a certain type for $getVarValue, currently only 'int' is used. If no int is encountered throw 404. This prevents creation of URLs with erroneous parameters. Usage example: 'GETvar' => 'tx_news_pi1[news]', 'forceType' => 'int',
