Summary

  • Update the Perplexity Web provider catalog to the current regular Perplexity Web model set, including GPT-5.4, GPT-5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.0, Claude Opus 4.8, GLM-5.2, Kimi K2.6, and Nemotron 3 Ultra.
  • Update Perplexity Web internal mode/model_preference mappings and thinking variants to current search-mode payloads for advertised models.
  • Add regression coverage ensuring every advertised Perplexity Web model has an explicit internal mapping.

Related Issues

  • N/A

Validation

  • npm run lint
  • npm run test:unit
  • npm run test:coverage
  • Coverage is still >= 60% for statements, lines, functions, and branches
  • SonarQube PR analysis is green or any remaining issues are explicitly documented below
  • node --import tsx/esm --test tests/unit/perplexity-web.test.ts
  • node --import tsx/esm --test tests/unit/perplexity-web-streaming-tools-5927.test.ts tests/unit/perplexity-web-executor-split.test.ts tests/unit/perplexity-tls-client.test.ts
  • node --import tsx/esm --test tests/unit/provider-validation-specialty.test.ts
  • npm run check:provider-consistency
  • npm run typecheck:core
  • npx prettier --check open-sse/config/providers/registry/perplexity/web/index.ts open-sse/executors/perplexity-web.ts open-sse/executors/perplexity-web/protocol.ts tests/unit/perplexity-web.test.ts
  • git diff --check

Tests Added Or Updated

  • tests/unit/perplexity-web.test.ts

Coverage Notes

  • The production changes are covered by tests/unit/perplexity-web.test.ts, which verifies the current GPT-5.5 preference, thinking-mode search payload, the 10-model registry, and explicit MODEL_MAP coverage for every advertised Perplexity Web model.
  • Full coverage was not run locally.
  • npm run test:unit was rerun before PR creation but did not complete cleanly: the official concurrency-20 run hit an esbuild Go runtime OOM and unrelated unit failures, and a lower-concurrency retry reproduced the unrelated agy Project ID UI support > uses isAntigravityFamily for antigravityClientProfile UI failure before being stopped after confirmation.

Reviewer Notes

  • The private Perplexity model_preference values were checked against the live https://www.perplexity.ai/rest/models/config?config_schema=v1 response on 2026-07-03.
  • Unknown raw-model fallback remains unchanged (copilot) to avoid widening behavior outside advertised Perplexity Web models.
  • No migrations or feature flags.

Code Review

This pull request updates the Perplexity Web provider registry and executor configuration. It updates existing model names and mappings (transitioning modes from 'copilot' to 'search'), adds support for new models like GPT-5.4 and GLM-5.2, and updates the corresponding unit tests to reflect these changes, including a new test to ensure all advertised models have explicit internal mappings. I have no feedback to provide.

Important

The consumer version of Gemini Code Assist on GitHub is being sunset. Starting June 18, 2026, new organization installations will be blocked, and all code review activity will officially cease on July 17, 2026.
For more details on the timeline and next steps, please review the Help Documentation.

Refresh the Perplexity Web model catalog + mode/model_preference mappings to the current live set. Regression guard: perplexity-web.test.ts.
