Code Review
This pull request introduces the 'Dahl' provider, an OpenAI-compatible free inference provider, including its registry configuration, UI controls, a server-side proxy route for token generation, and corresponding unit tests. Feedback on the changes highlights several critical issues: the baseUrl for the provider needs to be corrected to the base path (/v1) to prevent 404 errors from the executor, and the corresponding test assertion should be updated. Additionally, the implementation in NoAuthAccountCard currently discards the apiKey when adding subsequent accounts, which breaks rate-limit rotation. Finally, robust JSON parsing should be added in both the frontend token generation control and the backend proxy route to gracefully handle invalid or non-JSON responses from upstream.

The consumer version of Gemini Code Assist on GitHub is being sunset. Starting June 18, 2026, new organization installations will be blocked, and all code review activity will officially cease on July 17, 2026.

For openai-compatible executors, the baseUrl should point to the base API endpoint (typically ending in /v1 or /api/v1), because the executor automatically appends /chat/completions to the base URL when making chat requests. Setting it to https://inference.dahl.global/v1/chat/completions will likely cause requests to fail with a 404 error (attempting to hit /v1/chat/completions/chat/completions).

In NoAuthAccountCard, when adding a subsequent account (the else block on line 186), the newly generated apiKey is completely discarded and not saved. Since Dahl uses the standard openai-compatible executor which only reads the single connection.apiKey field, any additional accounts added will either use the first account's API key or fail if the upstream expects a unique token per fingerprint. This defeats the purpose of rate-limit rotation across multiple accounts/tokens.

If the server returns a non-JSON error (e.g., a 502/504 HTML page from Nginx or Cloudflare), calling res.json() directly will throw an unhandled parsing exception. Wrapping it with .catch(() => ({})) ensures a graceful fallback and allows the error check below to handle it cleanly.

If the upstream returns a 200 OK but with an empty or invalid JSON body, resp.json() will throw an error and fall through to the generic 500 Internal Error block. Handling JSON parsing safely here allows returning a more descriptive 502 Bad Gateway error.
const data = await resp.json().catch(() => null);
if (!data) {
return NextResponse.json(
{ error: "Upstream returned invalid JSON" },
{ status: 502 }
);
}
return NextResponse.json(data, { status: resp.status });|

Sorry, it seems it switched from the normal model to GLM 5.2 and caused some weird behavior. I've noticed for a while now that GLM 5.2 can do things you didn't ask for and act on its own while performing a task, messing with code it shouldn't touch. Everything should be fine now. |
