Summary

Public status pass for the 3.8.5x → 3.9.0 LTS rail: ROADMAP.md now says which rail items have landed, which are partly landed or in review, and which wait on the owner. The README growth table moves to v3.8.50 | v3.8.51 | v3.8.52+, and each number in it was measured at its tag or at the tip.

What changed

• ROADMAP.md: frontmatter version: 3.8.52 and lastUpdated: 2026-10-10. The header now names the current line (release/v3.8.52) and adds a short status legend. The Phase 1 and Phase 2 tables get a Status column with the key PRs:

  • 3.8.50 and 3.8.51 shipped.
  • 3.8.52 is in progress. refactor(combo): split executeTarget into gates, attempt, and loop #12746, refactor(combo): move handleRoundRobinCombo into roundRobinCombo.ts #12811 and ci: expose change domains from the PR classifier (one-CI-policy step 1, rail 3.8.52) #16078 landed; the strategy registry refactor(combo): route strategy-specific branching through a typed strategy registry (rail 3.8.52 R0.4a) #16206 is still open.
  • 3.8.53 work landed early (refactor(sse): split handleChatCore into four response-path leaves #14725, feat(server): headless mode — OMNIROUTE_HEADLESS=1 / serve --headless (rail 3.8.53) #16079, feat(dev): local candidate build/validate/promote loop with rollback (rail 3.8.53, #8084 local side) #16180). The next chatCore slice, refactor(sse): split chatCore request guards and failure handling #15709, is open.
  • 3.8.54 infra landed (chore(release): dormant LTS release infra — labels, PR templates, RELEASE_STRATEGY (rail 3.8.54) #16073, ci(release): dormant LTS workflows, nightly version/dist-tag resolver and release channel API (rail 3.8.54) #16172, ci(mergify): checks timeout at 2×p95 for the release queue (rail G11; batching blocked by plan tier) #16066). The freeze announcement waits on the owner.
  • 3.8.55 was prepared early (test(characterization): fix the public surface of memory, guardrails, skills, a2a and oauth before the v4 extraction (rail 3.8.55) #16179, test(characterization): fix the public surface of cloudAgent, evals, webhooks and gamification before the v4 extraction (rail 3.8.55) #16192, test(rail): boundary coupling measurement script and multi-format provider-journey contract (rail 3.8.55) #16205).
  • 3.8.56, .57 and .58 have their tooling in (perf(rail): reproducible LTS performance baseline script and preliminary devbox report (rail 3.8.56) #16211, security(rail): local-only route sweep, public-creds structural guard, LTS security baseline and support window (rail 3.8.57) #16209, ci(release): preview-artifact build-once workflow, LTS cut dry-run script and GO/NO-GO checklist (rail 3.8.58–.59) #16210). The VPS canary, the OIDC registry rehearsal and the fork rehearsal are still pending.
  • 3.8.59 is pending the owner's GO/NO-GO.

  The existing "See also" lines now also link the LTS security baseline, the LTS performance baseline and the contribution golden path. No new See-also lines were added.

• README.md → "The Gateway Keeps Growing": columns are v3.8.50 | **v3.8.51** | v3.8.52+.

  • Providers: 352 / 358 / 372. This is the Total providers value in docs/reference/PROVIDER_REFERENCE.md at each tag and at the tip, which is the number check:docs-counts treats as canonical.
  • Unique chat model IDs: 1320 / 1374 / 1443. This is the number of distinct ids across generateModels() (open-sse/config/providerRegistry.ts), run at each tag and at the tip.
  • The v3.8.50 provider cell goes back to 352, the number its own tag published (git show v3.8.50:README.md and PROVIDER_REFERENCE.md). A later provider-count re-sync had overwritten that historical cell with 357.
  • The 4 existing feature rows are kept. Two short rows are added: headless mode (serve --headless) and LTS release channels.

• llm.txt and package.json are unchanged. They already carry the canonical 372, and check:docs-counts passes.
