First, I just have to say how excited I am to see Snack Habits get such a wonderful Bootstrap makeover. It really needed it. I love the forms and the instructions. It makes it so user-friendly for the teachers. Thank you for the time put into this. I think it is a wonderful project and will certainly be more used once they see it in this form!!
You mentioned a note would be added that they could produce for students a filter function example to just produce their own snack information. I think that would be good to do. Just say if you wish - here is something you could show students and let them know they would learn later - but can use now to get displays on their own if they wish to compare and contrast their data to the class and the US. That is a big deal for students. They really get into comparing themselves. Will there be lesson slides for this? |
…and quantitative data stretches
@retabak I'm waiting on your review. Please prioritize this before our meeting tomorrow. @joystraub We don't offer slides for any of our Projects. How high of a priority do you see this as? |
Not really. If you don't for projects, then keep it that way.

Meta comment: The big thing that I wanted to see more of throughout was guidance for teachers to help kids understand how everything they are doing is one piece of a bigger puzzle / project. When I got to the last section, I genuinely thought to myself, "Oh! Cool! It's a projet! They're making a presentation. I had no idea." (E.g. at the start - "hey kids, check out this slide deck you'll be completing later"; while building displays - "save these, they will go in your slide deck"; after data cycle - "hold onto this worksheet, you will refer to it when you make your slide deck"). If I were doing this project, I would want to have lots of class discussions along the way, and I think teachers would appreciate more guidance on how to make that happen. The project-lesson at the moment focuses mostly on the step-by-step mechanics; I think meaningful project implementation requires lots of conversation and critical thinking as a group. FYI: When I opened the google form and made a copy (as instructed), this message (below) appeared. I've never seen anything like it. If it will appear for teachers (which I assume to be the case), we should let them know that it is coming and explain what it is. |

…t infrastructure - projects still need attention (see #1937)
I think the snack habits lesson is pretty close to ready and would love some feedback if you have time. No reason to look at any of the other lessons on this branch.
Feel free to just make commits to improve things.
I haven't updated the project slide template after the last reorganization but go ahead and adjust if you have ideas.
Emmanuel and I decided that filtering for individual data wasn't something the average teacher would be comfortable with but I need to add a pedagogy box letting them know they can go deeper.
