Feature request: Translators field in books

Hi,

It would be nice to have a separated (and searchable) "Translators" new field for translators. After importing my goodread list, authors and translators get mixed in the same "Authors" field.

But I don't see where the translators are located in a goodreads export ?

Or are you talking about filling it by hand after you imported your goodreads books ?

Thanks for considering it. Yes, Goodreads seem to add translators as authors. I was referring to manually separate them. (I need to manually add my start read date anyway to make the transition).

Ok, it confirms what I thought considering Goodreads.

On the automatic metadata fetch side, however, we might be able to automatically retrieve the translators.

We receive xml containing an opf document from the metadata fetching tool.

The spec says that the translators are stored in the dc:contributor tag with the "opf:role=trl" attribute.

You can tell Jelu to log the xml by setting the metadata part in TRACE mode, you just need to add the following config :

So, you can set up the above, try to fetch a few books and see in the logs if the metadata fetching tool sometimes comes with the translators field correctly filled.

If yes, I'll modify the opf metadata parser to automatically fill the translators if provided, that will save you some time in the future.

I've added the TRACE mode and tried to import a few books. However, it seems to me translators are still read as authors?

For instance, books with ISBN 9780060929794:

I think my message was not clear. :)
The config changes I gave were destined to see if in the fields that are returned by automatic metadata fetcher the translators were correctly filled.
And if that is the case, my intention was to use this to automatically fill the translators.
But it appears, looking at your data above, that the translators are not correctly tagged.
Gregory Rabassa is tagged as an author (see the opf:role="aut" part, the role should be "trl" and not "aut")

This means that in that case we have no way to automatically separate the translators from the authors.

Any way, support for manually filling translators will come, don't worry.

I you can have a look at some more data or give me a couple of ISBNs that should have a translator so that I can confirm that the translators are never correcty tagged.

A couple of books with a translator field should be ISBN 8490668000 or 8493935824.
