What

Commits the backpass instruction edits that were kept in the working tree but never landed: AGENTS.md and the diagnostic-reasoning skill.

AGENTS.md changes:

  • bullet formatting in the address, escalation-etiquette, and backlog sections
  • four operational clarifications:
    • confirm FM_HOME at session start and stop on a launcher-environment mismatch
    • invoke firstmate scripts by absolute path from the tracked code root, never via cd <checkout> &&
    • stop and surface a recorded-vs-live head disagreement before merging
    • tell workers to capture a gate's exit status explicitly rather than letting a pipe or formatter consume it

diagnostic-reasoning skill: also load it before asserting a capability or fix works, requiring end-to-end behavioral verification instead of inferring from an API surface.

Not included

The home-layout file-table extraction from the same backpass run was declined and is not part of this change.

Validation

Docs-only; no executable behavior changes.

Applies the backpass recommendations kept for AGENTS.md and the
diagnostic-reasoning skill: bullet formatting in the etiquette, backlog, and
address sections, plus four operational clarifications (session-start home
check, absolute-path script invocation, recorded-vs-live head check before
merge, and explicit gate exit-status capture).

The home-layout file-table extraction from the same run stays declined and is
not included.
