Describe the bug
Setting an empty string view name leads to a panic.

I'm thinking maybe we can handle it more gracefully or at least have a more descriptive panic. Thoughts?

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Set an empty string as a view name.
See error

OS: MacOS Sonoma @ Darwin-ARM64
