I have tried generation a LUT for my grabber, but the colors have not improved at all. @awawa-dev I remember we talked about this once and you said that you would add this back at some point. Has this happened by now? |

Calibration for SDR works in v20beta1. You need to calibrate on the SDR signal and then enable 'tone mapping' to activate the calibrated LUT. However, if the image is significantly disturbed by faulty firmware (as in the case of MS2130 with newer firmware), it is hard to expect a miracle. The calibration result in the logs will show what happened. |

Okay, may be that may last try was before the release. I did also not see this point the changelog. Anyway, I just tried it and HyperHDR is crashing when I start the LUT calibration. I am using the Homebrew version on webOS |

how did you run the calibrator tool? i tried casting the webbroser tab from my computer but the logs show "no capture device detected" |

webos is not officially supported here and its capture has nothing to do with SDR or HDR. The capture process itself uses undocumented functions, resulting in a signal whose format has been more or less damaged, otherwise the SDR would not need any correction. Complaints and information about the capture process, its quality and video format should be submitted to another project that provides signal capture on webos. |

Yes, this is probably a grabber issue, but that is not important. I would like to try the LUT generation of HyperHDR to improve the results I am getting. It is not my intention to complain about the results here. You said it is implemented in the current beta release and this answers my question. Now I only have to find out why it crashes in the current version. It did not do so before when I last tried a few months ago. Interesting, sure it could be a lack of resources. I could try installing HyperHDR on a proper machine and generate the LUT there. |

I dont have currently the webos setup to test it. And webos video capturing? To put it briefly, its video format is 'unknown' so no documentation means no support and do not mistake it with SDR you were asking. And only it is available in RGB, the calibration includes testing different coefs for the raw YUV format as part of the process and we cannot carry out this stage anymore because webos capturing arbitrarily rigidly adopted one selected coef for YUV. Typically, users calibrate the signal that was HDR at the input to webos. The webos capturing process grinds it and provides some output signal. Usually, from what I see from reports, the error is around 25,000 compared to grabbers which can get a result around 1,000. v20beta allows calibration by accepting RGB data from flatbuffers, so you can calibrate on another unit. |

I guess this means it won't work anyway? I just tried generating a LUT by running HyperHDR on my desktop. It was generated sucessfully, but yellow still appears green. So I guess it doesn't work |

Did you have tone mapping disabled in flatbuffers? I thought that for both SDR and HDR stream on the input, the webos capturing input generates a dark image, but here it is very bright, in fact it has the full range up to 255... as if it had been corrected before the calibration process. But I'm not sure, I don't have such a webos setup and it may differ between LG models. |

hi.. you mean the hyperhdr fork installed via homebrew? i tried it but it was not calibrated at all, im now using the docker version which i think is more responsive. And recently downloaded the lut provided by awawa-dev made for webostv and i think it looks better, still need to test it more |

Yes and frankly I don't see any colors being off when using HyperHDR. I was just interested in optimizing stuff.

However, calibration works on webos, judging by user reports. The SDR calibration strategy itself was present from the beginning, but the bug corrected here: #518 caused it not to work properly. Calibration causes a significant load on the system and the user is warned about…
