1 Go to Dashboard
2 Click on 'Add or edit filets'
3 see error 'Unexpected error: TypeError: Do not know how to serialize a BigInt'
4 In the end，I find out the reason，because I query a BigInt filed。

Hi @DriverK! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the superset team.

This error happens because JavaScript's BigInt type can't be serialized with JSON.stringify, and Superset's frontend and backend previously didn't consistently convert BigInt values to strings before serialization. Recent fixes in Superset master/latest-dev (July–August 2025) address this: the SelectFilterPlugin now stringifies BigInt values before comparison and serialization, which resolves the error in dashboard filters, and table chart rendering also handles BigInt values safely (#34137, #34556). The backend JSON utility also supports converting BigInt to strings during serialization (#29861).

If you're on an older version, you can work around this by casting BigInt fields to string in your SQL queries, or patching your frontend code to stringify BigInt values before sending them to the backend. If possible, upgrade to a commit after August 2025 to get these fixes directly. For more details, see the linked PRs.
