I guess not a exact clean backport as its using new spark 4.0 procedure framework :) but late lgtm |

Yes. I have mentioned that after a clean backport, adopted to 4.0 procedure framework in PR description. Maybe word "clean" is misleading? I consider it clean because it is an exact copy paste in first commit. And I kept it as two separate commits for easy review and comparison. |

Just a clean port from spark 3.5: #13480
And adopted the changes for spark-4.0 as per #13106.
