net-utils: update deprecated methods to dropped since 3.0

Problem

These methods were deprecated in #6639 (but the v2.3 backport #6705 never landed). See Alex's comment here. So they are technically deprecated in 3.0 and can't removed until after v3.0 branch is cut.
