I added that line to ~/.bashrc and it doesn't do anything; I still get a "hide-me: command not found"
However, I can still execute the script in it's own directory.
The line I have written in is:
PATH=/home/(my user)/Development/hide-me:"$PATH"

Try to put "" before space and try to restart terminal
Correct path: PATH=/home/(my\ user)/Development/hide-me:"$PATH"

Nah, it's still not working :/
I'm using XFCE terminal on Ubuntu 16.04.
I copied and pasted the path you gave and replaced the username with mine.
I'm not sure why this is happening, really.

**EDIT
Do I need to put the line somewhere specific in my .bashrc?
I'm just slapping it on the end of it.

Yeah, you just need to type it at the end of the file.
