Adding custom_social doesn't seem to work

Hi!
I'm trying to add a custom_social in _data/socials.yml (for Pixelfed).
As it didn't work I've been searching for custom_social elsewhere in the repository but couldn't find any result. I searched in social.liquid and search.liquid.js and couldn't find any reference of custom_social.

Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any help!

Yes, you are. If you check the first line in _includes/social.liquid:

al-folio/_includes/social.liquid

Line 1 in d3402d0

{% for social in site.data.socials %}

which means we loop through all the socials in _data/socials.yml. If is not a know social, it falls in the else case:

That's what I understood. Yet, when I add the following code (or uncomment the default one) in socials.yml, nothing happens:

But the default one is not commented in our repo. See:

and it is displayed as an icon with Einstein's face in the socials part in our demo.

The thing is, your url icon is wrong. You are pointing to the url with the icon in your GitHub repo, not the asset itself. You should rather use the link to the raw asset, or better yet link to the local file in your repo.

Thank you for your help! You are right: I used my saved version of al-folio who had the custom_social already commented out. Also, now I understood that I had also a syntax mistake, and, as you pointed out, a wrong url for the image.
