📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe change adds Aurora wave and displacement utilities, an interactive Northern Lights canvas lab page, pointer and touch controls, responsive rendering, lifecycle cleanup, reduced-motion support, tests, and technical documentation. ChangesNorthern Lights lab
Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to The interactive canvas may fail to resume after being paused, leaving the visualization frozen until the page is reloaded. This should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging; the remaining accessibility and touch-interaction issues are bounded follow-ups. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Correct the zero-allocation claim.
render() creates { x, y: rawY } for each vertex, and applyMagnetosphereDisplacement() returns another object. Replace this claim with a measured performance target or describe the actual allocations.

Synchronize the reduced-motion button state.
When reduced motion is active, isPaused becomes true but aria-pressed remains false. Set aria-pressed to "true" with the Play Motion label.

Clear animId after each animation callback.
After pause, the final scheduled callback exits without scheduling another frame. animId still contains the old identifier. Line 157 then prevents Play Motion from scheduling a new frame.

Track touch movement.
The canvas updates pointer only at touchstart. The displacement does not follow a drag. Add a passive touchmove listener and remove it during cleanup.

Assert the non-zero wave result.
Lines 18-20 only prove that the result is finite. A regression in harmonic direction, speed, or amplitude still passes. Assert the expected numeric result with toBeCloseTo.

Validate WaveConfig once before rendering.
waves is a hard-coded configuration array. Define a Zod schema, infer WaveConfig from it, and parse the wave parameters once before the render loop. Preserve color and baseYRatio. Do not parse each Vector2D vertex.

Copy-only review. The canvas is the page. The words around it still read like a paper abstract.
Visitors do not need “harmonic sine wave superposition” or “magnetosphere vector displacement.” Say what it is, then let them play.
Also: this route has no noindex. An experimental lab page should not be a share or search result on a hire site.
