📝 Docu: Document Chat Logic Constants and Schemas - #415
alehar9320 wants to merge 7 commits into
Conversation
This commit implements standard-compliant JSDoc headers for the previously undocumented chat logic constants, schemas, and types in `src/utils/chat-logic.ts`. Additionally, it improves TypeScript type safety during Zod schema validation in unit tests and registers the changes in Docu's Journal. 1. Unsound safeParse guard

1. Unsound safeparse guard 🐞 Bug ☼ Reliability
isSchemaWithSafeParse() claims a value is safe-parsable by checking only that a non-null object
has a safeParse key, not that safeParse is a function. If schema ever becomes a malformed
object (e.g., { safeParse: true }) the guard will pass and the subsequent schema.safeParse(...)
call will throw a TypeError instead of failing with the intended test message.
Agent Prompt
## Issue description
The new `isSchemaWithSafeParse` type guard is not runtime-safe because it checks only `'safeParse' in schema` and then narrows to a type with a callable `safeParse`. This can cause a runtime `TypeError` in the test if `safeParse` exists but is not a function (e.g., schema shape changes, or a mock returns an unexpected value).
## Issue Context
This is test-only code, but the goal of the change was to avoid unsafe casts; the current guard still makes an unsafe assumption.
## Fix Focus Areas
- src/__tests__/content.config.test.ts[30-36]
### Suggested change
Update the guard to verify callability (and ideally own-property):
```ts
function isSchemaWithSafeParse(schema: unknown): schema is ZodSchemaWithSafeParse {
return (
typeof schema === 'object' &&
schema !== null &&
Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call(schema, 'safeParse') &&
typeof (schema as { safeParse?: unknown }).safeParse === 'function'
);
}
```

Check that safeParse is callable before narrowing.
'safeParse' in schema only checks property presence. A schema with a non-function safeParse value passes the guard and later throws a TypeError instead of the intended safe-parse validation result. Add a function check before calling schema.safeParse(...).

Clarify that ChatMessage is a static output type.
z.infer<typeof ChatMessageSchema> does not validate runtime values. Document it as the TypeScript output type inferred from ChatMessageSchema.

Update the @codecov/vite-plugin peer dependency before relying on this lockfile.
@codecov/vite-plugin@2.0.1 requires vite@4.x || 5.x || 6.x, but the tree resolves vite@8.2.1 through @astrojs/cloudflare. This peer conflict prevents npm ci from completing, so the undici / sharp overrides are not vetted against an installable dependency tree.
