CI: pin AWS EFA pod checkout to GITHUB_SHA - #2384
Conversation
The AWS pod cloned the repo and checked out the pull-request/<N> branch by name about 2.5 minutes after job submission. copy-pr-bot deletes or moves those branches when a PR is merged or updated, so the checkout either failed (PR ai-dynamo#2363: "pathspec 'pull-request/2363' did not match") or silently tested a newer commit than the one GitHub reports. Fetch GITHUB_SHA (falling back to GITHUB_REF for manual runs) with a shallow fetch and check it out detached. Signed-off-by: NirWolfer <nwolfer@nvidia.com>

- Around line 47-48: Update the manual fallback around checkout_ref so
documented short commit SHAs remain resolvable by the fetch-and-checkout flow;
alternatively, if short SHAs are no longer supported, require full 40-character
SHAs in both the usage text and README.

🤖 CI Triage Agent — TL;DR: The "Run CPP tests" stage never ran a single test — the Full analysisSummary: Root cause: Infrastructure/CI-harness failure in the Slurm launch path, not a code defect:
The srun died ~112 s in, still inside the pyxis image import, so Everything after that is the failure-handling path, not additional faults: the Infra telemetry corroborates that the node itself was fine: Implicated commit: unknown — f65f90e (branch File: Jenkins Slurm harness invocation in stage "Run CPP tests" — Suggested fix:

Update examples/rust/Cargo.lock and the Jenkins pipeline description, which were missed by the 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 version bumps. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The AWS EFA pod clones the repo and checks out the
pull-request/<N>branch by name, about 2.5 minutes after the job is submitted. copy-pr-bot deletes or moves those branches when a PR is merged or updated, so the pod either fails before any test runs or tests a different commit than the one GitHub reports. The runner itself is unaffected, sinceactions/checkoutfetches by SHA.Example: PR #2363 was merged at 21:51:47 and its mirror branch deleted right after. The AWS job was submitted at 21:52:15, and the pod's checkout failed with
error: pathspec 'pull-request/2363' did not match any file(s) known to git(run).The branch-name checkout dates back to the original AWS script (#212) and was kept in #1434.
Changes:
contrib/aws-efa/aws_test.sh: the pod now runsgit init+git fetch --depth 1 <repo> <ref>+git checkout --detach FETCH_HEAD, where<ref>isGITHUB_SHA, falling back toGITHUB_REFwhenGITHUB_SHAis unset (manual runs).git fetchaccepts a branch name,refs/heads/...or a SHA, so therefs/heads/stripping is no longer needed. Nothing in the pod's build or tests reads git history, so a shallow fetch is enough.contrib/aws-efa/aws_test.sh,contrib/aws-efa/README.md: documentGITHUB_SHAand the fallback.Summary by CodeRabbit
GITHUB_SHAwhen available, falling back toGITHUB_REFotherwise. This avoids tests running against a different commit if a pull request branch changes before the job starts.GITHUB_SHAtakes precedence and thatGITHUB_REFmay be a branch name or full commit SHA.
