by merging this request we would be able to:

  • share the information on how to install YubiKey Manager on FreeBSD;
  • take care of the decision made on Update development.adoc #139 by @dagheyman
    • inform that Yubico do NOT maintain any official package for this platform;
  • offer the easy option to install YubiKey Manager via pkg;
  • document and link the option to use the ports tree, but refer the official FreeBSD Handbook.

Hi, sorry for taking a while to get around to this. I'd like to avoid giving the FreeBSD section so much focus in the README where the functionality is partial and unsupported. I'd be willing to add the section with a much shorter text, along the lines of:

Packages for FreeBSD are available via pkg, or the Ports Collection. These packages are not supported by Yubico, and may not offer full functionality. For more information, see the https://docs.freebsd.org/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports/[FreeBSD Handbook].

thank you for the feedback;
I can take care of it, and push the changes so we can review it later once again;
appreciated the time and concern.

hello there,

is that a positive-false (?) meaning that CodeQL impact was introduced by the latest commit?
only a plain-text documentation file was affected by 33982fa.

Yes, these are false-positives. I'm not sure why they are triggering on this PR when they should already be marked as ignored. I think we can merge this now!
