Integrate Facebook Commenting System #41
Comments
This can, over time, replace the button to "improve this entry" since they can leave their grouse as a public comment that can be replied to directly on the page. |
Hi, I would like to help with this issue. Where can I find your website's front end code and if possible can I temporarily be an administrator on your Facebook page(Yoruba Name Dictionary). |
This is the repository for the website's front end code. If you click on the "code" tab above, you see the source. |
Hi @Yetunde79 Please add me as a friend Kola Tubosun and like our FB page so I can make you admin. What's your full name? |
I'm new to github, so I don't really understand the folders. Is the source code in HTML and where exactly can I find the of the website. |
Hi @Yetunde79, as you said you are new to Github, I will advice to first get aquatinted with Github (and Git in general). Github has some nice introductory guides here https://guides.github.com/. Go through those first. You will also need to understand the code structure of the application. To help with this, I will advice the following:

Added facebook comments. This addresses issue: #41
One of the ways to have users return to an entry will be to make the platform interactive. And what more could help that happen than a FB commenting system integrated into any of the free spaces on the result/entry page (see attached). This won't replace the "improve this entry" button, but will complement it by allowing users to say whatever they want to about the entry. Do they have a personal story to tell? Do they have alternative spellings that haven't been listed? Do they have an argument about the explanation given about a name, etc.
The benefit of using Facebook is that the name of the commenter will show, thus reducing the probability of misuse/abuse. We could also make it such that whatever comment they leave is automatically posted on their own FB wall (this can be optional, like Quora does it), as a way to get even more people to come to the dictionary page.
