Cause

Fork Sync run 40327926149 stopped on merge conflicts in 6 files. The batch has 12 upstream commits:

Conflicts and resolution

  • terminalSessions.ts: upstream's attachedTerminalSessionAtom family. The fork draft flag joins the family key, and a draft launch attaches through attachDraft (the 5-second stream). The fork terminal-thread filter in useThreadRunningTerminalIds stays.
  • ThreadTerminalDrawer.tsx: upstream's atom subscription. The fork shell and draft go into the launch, and the fork reportInput stays.
  • useTimelinePositionRestore.ts, MessagesTimeline.tsx: upstream's file. The fork message link now sets citationPending from the caller, as the citation does. The fork message link target gets upstream's navigateTimeline in place of the removed onManualNavigation.
  • PullRequestGuideRunCoordinator.tsx: upstream's imports, plus the fork installed-app notification fallback.
  • appInit.tsx: the fork theme font helper next to upstream's startElectronBrowserHost.

Fork fixes

  • Draft terminals: the viewport session key includes draft, because the surface now reads its atom once per mount. terminalSessions.fork.test.ts tests that a draft launch attaches through attachDraft and a thread launch through attach.
  • Terminal threads (ForkShellTerminal.tsx): the resize observer only fed the removed drawer props. The terminal surface now fits itself, so the observer is gone. The fork effect budget for the file drops to 1.

Upstream merge

Merges pingdotgg/t3code main at f0dd86f "fix(web): stable callbacks refresh before layout effects read them (pingdotgg#25489)".

Adopted upstream pull requests

All 7 entries are unchanged at their listed heads. No new merges.

Upstream changes in fork areas

24 files changed on both sides. Apart from the conflicts above, none affects a fork feature:

  • Goals (fix(server): goals stop the running turn, clear while working, no echoes pingdotgg/t3code#25426): they touch the orchestrator, the Codex and Claude adapters and turn start, away from the fork code in those files.
  • Review guide runs: they no longer mount in __root.tsx. The fork notification fallback moved with them.
  • Timeline follow (ChatView.tsx): the fork message link uses upstream's viewport navigate.
  • Mobile thread feed: it reads detail through detailRef. The fork feed changes merged cleanly.
  • Other changes: settings search, pull request list restore and right panel tabs. No fork behaviour depends on the old code.

Checks

  • checks.py: typecheck, migration check, adopted pull request check, format, lint and knip pass.
  • fork_tests.py: 179 fork test files pass locally (117 root and 62 web). The apps/server fork test files are left to Fork CI.

Fork repair skill changes

None.

The --prepare flag from pingdotgg#25390 had no default, so effect/cli made it
required and every mobile:install failed with "Missing required flag".

agent-device names rotations relative to the device's natural orientation,
which is landscape on the Pixel Tablet and an unfolded Fold, so
"landscape-left" turned them portrait. The runner now asks for a shape and
tries each rotation until the screen has it. It also prepares each platform's
dev client before leasing, rides out longer worker drops, and skips the
Duo poses by default until agent-device can fold Simlock's simulators.

Upstream keyed one session atom per terminal launch and dropped the drawer's resize props. The fork draft flag joins the atom key and the viewport key, and the fork shell terminal drops its own resize observer.

Walkthrough

This pull request changes thread and request state, goal-command orchestration, timeline navigation, pull-request guide handling, web surface lifecycles, settings interactions, and mobile E2E execution. It adds shared state helpers and updates tests across these areas.

Changes: Thread detail and request drafts

Layer / File(s) Summary
Thread creation detail selection
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/*, apps/mobile/src/state/*
A shared selector withholds thread detail references while creation is queued or failed. Thread consumers accept nullable scoped references.
Scoped request drafts and resolution
packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadRequests.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/threads.ts, apps/mobile/src/state/use-selected-thread-requests.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/usePendingThreadRequests.ts, apps/web/src/questionAttachments.ts
Request draft keys include environment, thread, and request identifiers. Resolution events prune drafts for resolved requests. Suggested answers seed displayed drafts. Tests cover request resolution and draft retention.

Goal-command orchestration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Goal parsing and run dispatch
packages/contracts/src/orchestrationV2.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/CommandPolicy.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Orchestrator.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/ProviderTurnStartService.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/SteeringCompletion.integration.test.ts
A shared parser recognizes goal commands. The orchestrator validates supported providers, queues commands, and interrupts eligible live runs. Provider turn setup defers handoff context for goal commands.
Provider goal-command handling
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/*, apps/web/src/components/chat/ThreadActivityBanners.tsx, docs/user/composer.md
Codex goal turns now have a continuation grace period and a timed pause path. Claude goal acknowledgements are recorded as notices instead of assistant replies. The goal banner keeps Clear available during active work.

Timeline navigation and follow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Viewport navigation and follow state
apps/web/src/components/chat/timelineViewport.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/useTimelineFollow.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/timelineViewport.test.ts
The viewport converts input into navigation events. Follow state and scroll bookkeeping are tracked per thread visit.
Timeline restoration and navigation integration
apps/web/src/components/chat/MessagesTimeline.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/useTimelinePositionRestore.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/threadFindStore.ts, apps/web/src/components/ChatView.tsx, apps/web/src/components/guest/GuestPage.tsx
Timeline restoration, find, citation, fork, and minimap navigation use the attached viewport. Tests cover restoration and find navigation.

Pull-request lists and guide notifications

Layer / File(s) Summary
List-answer persistence and restoration
apps/web/src/state/pullRequests.ts, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/PullRequestsPage.tsx, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/pullRequestList.logic.ts, apps/web/src/state/pullRequests.test.ts
Eligible first-page answers are saved by scope and environment. Restored answers merge across targets and remove duplicate entries.
Guide-run watches and page tabs
apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/guide/*, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/PullRequestDetailPanel.tsx, apps/web/src/components/pullRequest/PullRequestGuideTab.tsx, apps/web/src/appInit.tsx, apps/web/src/routes/__root.tsx, packages/client-runtime/src/state/pullRequests.ts
Guide-run notifications start from an app-lifetime service. The guide-run store controls page-panel tabs, and query answers can register running guides for watching.

Web surfaces and terminal lifecycles

Layer / File(s) Summary
Browser and preview attachment
apps/web/src/browser/*, apps/web/src/components/files/BrowserDocumentFrame.tsx, apps/web/src/components/preview/PreviewPanelShell.tsx, apps/web/src/hooks/usePreviewPanelInlineSize.ts, apps/web/src/previewStateStore.ts
Browser-host listeners move to app-lifetime setup. Browser surfaces and preview hosts attach through callback refs. Document messages use one listener.
Terminal session state and drawer
apps/web/src/state/terminalSessions.ts, apps/web/src/components/ThreadTerminalDrawer.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/ProviderAuthTerminal.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsFontPreviews.tsx
Terminal sessions use keyed atoms. The drawer subscribes to session updates and synchronizes output, errors, and writable-session size changes.
Resize hooks and sidebar behavior
apps/web/src/hooks/useResizeDrag.ts, apps/web/src/hooks/useResizableWidth.ts, apps/web/src/components/ui/sidebar.tsx, apps/web/src/components/RightPanelTabs.tsx
Resize controllers capture drag bounds and options. Sidebar state is provider-scoped, and collapsing the sidebar cancels a drag and moves focus outside it.

Settings search and theme import

Layer / File(s) Summary
Theme search and import sessions
apps/web/src/components/settings/ThemeImportDialog.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/ThemeSearchSection.tsx
Theme search is managed by a controller with debouncing and request cancellation. Dialog sessions abort outstanding search and import work when closed.
Settings search and font previews
apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsSidebarNav.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/TypographySettings.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/settingsSearch.ts, apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsFontPreviews.tsx
Search navigation reveals advanced typography targets. Font previews attach their shadow roots and terminal surfaces through callback refs.

Mobile E2E execution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pose selection and device orientation
scripts/mobile-e2e.ts, scripts/mobile-e2e/*, scripts/mobile-native-client.ts
Pending poses are excluded from default runs. The script prepares native clients, retries transient agent errors, and checks orientation with device snapshots.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "chore(sync): merge pingdotgg/t3code main" is a conventional-commit style title that accurately names the change: a merge of upstream main into the fork. It is partially descriptive, since the changeset consists of many upstream changes (terminal session atoms, timeline position restore, review guide watching, listener ownership, /goal behavior) and the title does not name any of them. It is not vague or generic, because it states the type of change and its source. The title therefore passes as a partial match to the main change.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's main sections. It gives a Cause, Conflicts and resolution, Fork fixes, Upstream merge, Adopted upstream pull requests, Upstream changes in fork areas, Checks, and Fork repair skill changes. The template's Problem, Change, Scope and approval, Verification, and Review headings are not used by name. The author describes a merge, so the Scope and approval section (a bug issue or maintainer approval) does not directly fit. The Verification content is present in the Checks section, but it lists only that checks passed and does not describe observed results for the changed behavior. The Review section is missing; the template requires the reviewer kind, rounds, and verdict for forks. The description is mostly complete, so the check passes, but the author should add a Review section and clarify approval for the merge.

# Atom unstable

Reactive state primitives for values managed by an `AtomRegistry`.

An `Atom` describes how to produce or update one piece of reactive state. The registry runs atom reads, remembers current values, tracks dependencies between atoms, starts effects and streams, and cleans up atoms that are no longer used. This module includes the atom constructors and update helpers used for cached values, effect-backed values, streams, browser state, stored values, and server-rendered values.

78 exports Since v4.0.0 Source

## Batching

### batch

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Runs synchronous atom updates as a batch.

#### Details

Stale nodes are rebuilt and listeners are notified after the callback completes, so dependent updates observe the final batched state.

#### Signature

    `

    declare const batch: (f: () => void) => void

    `

## Combinators

### autoDispose

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Allows a reactive value to be disposed of when it is not in use.

#### Details

Atoms have this behavior by default, so use this to undo `keepAlive` on a copied atom.

#### Signature

    `

    declare function autoDispose<A extends Atom<any>>(self: A): A

    `

### debounce

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Creates an atom that publishes source changes only after the source has stopped changing for the specified duration.

#### Details

The current source value is used immediately, and any pending debounce timer is cleared when the derived atom is disposed.

#### Signature

    `

    declare const debounce: {

      (duration: Input): <A extends Atom<any>>(self: A) => WithoutSerializable<A>;

      <A extends Atom<any>>(self: A, duration: Input): WithoutSerializable<A>;

    }

    `

### initialValue

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Pairs an atom with an initial value for registry initialization.

#### When to use

Use to preload an atom value when constructing or seeding a registry.

#### Details

The returned tuple can be supplied to `AtomRegistry` initial values so the atom starts with the provided value before it is first rebuilt. Pass `{ skipInitialRun: true }` to keep the value of an effect or stream atom instead of running its effect on mount (see InitialValueOptions).

# AsyncResult unstable

Represents observable state for asynchronous values.

`AsyncResult<A, E>` records whether asynchronous work has no value yet, succeeded with an `A`, or failed with an `E`. Every state also carries a `waiting` flag, so callers can keep showing the current value while newer work is loading, refreshing, retrying, or recovering. This module includes constructors, checks, accessors, mapping and matching helpers, ways to combine several results, and schemas for encoding or decoding results.

## Accessors

### cause

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Returns the failure cause when the result is a `Failure`, otherwise `None`.

#### Signature

    `

    declare function cause<A, E>(self: AsyncResult<A, E>): Option<Cause<E>>

### error

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Returns the first typed error from a failure cause, or `None` for successes, initial results, defects, and interrupt-only causes.

## Combinators

### all

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Combines an iterable or record of `AsyncResult` and plain values into one `AsyncResult`, returning the first non-success result or a success of the collected values marked waiting when any input success is waiting.

#### Details

If the first non-success result is a failure, its previous success is rebuilt in the combined shape from each input's current or previous value. It is omitted if any input has no value.

    }

    `

### toExit

unstable

Since v4.0.0

Converts a result to an `Exit`, succeeding with a success value, failing with a failure cause, or failing with `NoSuchElementError` for `Initial`.

#### Signature

### Patch Changes

  * #9055 `f665607` Thanks @Tyagiquamar! - Pass a `NonEmptyArray` to the `onNonEmpty` callback of `Array.match` when the input is a mutable array.

  * #9110 `dbf442b` Thanks @petar-omni! - Fix `AsyncResult.all` failures carrying a single input's `previousSuccess` instead of the combined record or tuple.

  * #9105 `74d1930` Thanks @tim-smart! - Fix infinite atom rebuilds caused by late reads of uninitialized dependencies.

  * #9145 `a03afb6` Thanks @jayhemnani9910! - Add `Flag.withOptionalValue` for GNU-style flags with an optional value, like `--color[=WHEN]`. A bare flag uses the given value; an explicit value must be attached with `=`.

  * #9131 `f159284` Thanks @tim-smart! - Fix lost deferred callback wakes in cluster workflows when an activity suspends while a parallel activity is still running.

  * #9094 `5d301cc` Thanks @okxint! - Name cluster entity RPC server spans by entity type only (e.g. `WorkflowEntity.Run`) so span names stay low-cardinality. The entity ID is still recorded in the `entity.id` span attribute.

  * #9176 `cd74ea2` Thanks @effect-bot! - Recover persisted local cluster replies from storage to prevent requests hanging when replies arrive before handler registration. Retain local reply notifications as storage-reader wakeups for low-latency streaming.

Check stale watches on every poll tick.

AsyncResult can retain the previous value during refresh or failure. If that value is the same object, data === seen prevents onGuide from running its expiry check. The interval then continues refreshing without settling the watch.

Do not use !sawRunning for this check. answeredRunning initializes sawRunning to true, so that condition misses watches whose first retained result was skipped.

Suggested fix
const timer = setInterval(() => {
+  if (
+    (seen === null || seen.run?._tag !== "Running") &&
+    Date.now() - watch.since > UNSEEN_RUN_MS
+  ) {
+    useGuideRunStore.getState().settle(runKey);
+    return;
+  }
   registry.refresh(atom);
}, RUN_POLL_MS);

Update the polling interval in PullRequestGuideRunCoordinator so it checks
whether an unseen or non-running watch has exceeded UNSEEN_RUN_MS on every tick,
even when AsyncResult retains the same object and skips onGuide; settle the run
and stop that tick’s refresh when expired. Do not use sawRunning for this check.

Add the required reason comment to router: false.

This call passes router: false with no comment. The test guideline allows router: false only with a one-line comment that says why. The other browser tests in this PR include one.

Check the rotated tablet’s orientation.

If every rotation attempt leaves the tablet in its original orientation, Device.orient returns that snapshot. This step records no check for the requested shape, so the rotation test can pass without rotating. Add an orientation check to the "rotated" capture, as the "threads" capture does at Lines 145–149.

Update the rotated capture in the journey flow to verify that the returned
