This pull request addresses #42
Instead of PNG for the intermediate images, this version uses JPEG.
A PNG format option and pdftoppm JPEG quality parameters are stored as Zotero preferences but not presented in the Zotero-OCR preference pane: changing them is not recommended but developers and advanced users might want to play with them. With the provided parameters, the output PDF size is reduced by a factor of 2 to 4 with respect to the PNG-based OCR with no visible quality loss.
