Good point! Maybe we could say the 2 platforms are using different extensibility models making GH logger not currently supported for MTP

The current wording gives an impression that MTP is limited, but it's not. As the issue already discusses, it's a custom reporter that is needed, not logger. @Evangelink FYI. You'll probably need to update the README in your PR as well.
