Introduction

At start-up, VIR will ask you for the save-file location. Simply select a folder, and VIR will use it to store all your data. You can also change it by clicking on the settings icon on the top right.

The following is the basic workflow for using VIR:

  • Specify quota. Quota defines the amount of free time that you allocate to work on tasks in VIR.
  • Add items to VIR. Each item is a (possibly repeating) task that you can complete. Usually, each item should come with an estimate of how much time it needs.
  • View the timeline calendar. VIR will automatically suggest a schedule for you using the quota and items you entered. If some tasks are unable to be completed, the alerts tab will show the warnings. You can optionally customize the schedule.
  • If needed, visit the queue tab to manually order the priority of tasks.
  • As you work on the tasks, document the time you spent by adding completed sessions to the timeline; once you complete a task, mark it as completed. This allows VIR to calculate the estimated remainder of tasks.

Other features

  • You can undo/redo by clicking on the respective buttons on the top bar.
  • You can switch between dark and light themes by using the toggle button on the top bar.
  • The left sidebar, by default, shows the current plan for today and allows you to quickly make changes or track progress.
  • VIR comes with a simple timer utility to help you with time tracking. The timer can be toggled by clicking on the timer icon on the top bar.
  • You can drag items from the Items or Queue tab onto the left side-bar to quickly add a scheduled session for it.
