Improves handling of time tracking in bexio
There are 3 main features currently:
- It enables the user to save the form data as templates, and re-use it later. If you work on a specific project or work package and you have to track over and over again some time, this can help you fill out some of the base fields.
- Importing time entries from ManicTime, and applying them step by step. This supports complete form filling, from selecting a template and the base fields like contact or project, but also the time, date and billable feature for every entry.
- Converting the cumbersome tooltips to real text cells
Functionality added within the bexio time tracking page itself:
Clicking the extension icon will bring you to the bexio time tracking page
- On the time tracking page you can now save and re-use form data as templates
- Once the filled form is saved as a template you can simply let further forms fill out automatically using the template buttons
- If you don't need a template anymore, you can also delete it
- You can filter the templates if you have many of them
Clicking the extension icon on the bexio time tracking page will open the extensions side panel.
You can also open it using the browsers sidepanel selection.
In the sidepanel you can find the following features:
- TEMPLATE TAB
- You will see the saved templates and their content
- You can execute the templates also from here
- During applying a template, it will show a loader screen, which blocks interactivity while auto-filling your template information (to mitigate bugs)
- You can edit or delete the templates
- You can also add keywords to templates (which is used for the import feature)
- IMPORT FEATURES
- Currently we support ManicTime out of the box
- You can import
ManicTime
data and select which template to use, further features are: - Clicking a time entry (via
▶️ button) will automatically fill the time tracking page and apply the selected template if one is selected. - Further it will also apply the time and date as well as the billable checkbox if the according value exists on the entry
- You can use the auto-mapper Feature which tries to find the right template for your entries
- Automapper also checks the keywords as well as other fields on the templates. You can add keywords in the template section
Bexio has small little tooltip icons, where it hides the text content of an entry. Because the content is sometimes very important, and the tooltip is of no help for that, we have created a solution, which replaces these icons with the real text.
On specific pages we place a "Text mode / Popover mode" Button, in the top right corner next to the "Quick find". If the "Text mode" is enabled, it will automatically replace the tooltips with the real content.
These tooltips are available in different locations, currently the feature to remove them is enabled in the following places:
- Projects -> Time tracking
- Projects -> Projects -> Project XY -> Times
- Projects -> Projects -> Project XY -> Work packages -> Work package XY -> Time tracking
- Sales -> Invoices -> Invoice XY -> More items -> Tracked time
ManicTime can generate a timesheet of your worked time, this information can be used to go over your time entries and book them in bexio using the UI. So you keep the control what is happening exactly but get some help with filling the form automatically.
- Supported language is currently only English
- Create ManicTime exports via (Timesheet -> Generate Report -> Copy
Copy to clipboard
) - Make sure you selected
Time format
, notDecimal format
- Include the tags as columns, at least
Tag 1
is required. - Check
Include Notes
if you want to use theNotes
asDescriptions
- Include
Billable
as a column - to have Billable flag support per Time Entry, this will override the template's one
