Thank you for volunteering!

Thank you for your interest in starting a new ProtoSchool chapter in your local area and hosting live events based on our curriculum! Local ProtoSchool events give attendees the opportunity to work through our tutorials with the help of mentors, and our community depends on individuals like you stepping forward to lead!

Before submitting this issue, please double check the chapter list on our website and the existing new chapter requests to confirm there's not already a chapter in your area. If not, please carry on!

Please review these important notes about what it means to lead a ProtoSchool chapter before applying:

  • ProtoSchool chapters are led by awesome individuals, not by organizations. It will be your personal responsility as a chapter organizer to uphold your chapter's Code of Conduct.
  • The content of ProtoSchool events should be educational, not promotional or commerical.
  • Organizing a ProtoSchool chapter does not create a partnership between an individual organizer (or their employer) and ProtoSchool, Protocol Labs, or related projects (IPFS, Filecoin, etc.).

Introduce Yourself
Hey my name is saksham taneja from Jecrc university jaipur
twitter handel sakshamtaneja00.

Co-Organizers
Will anyone else be co-organizing with you? If so, please be sure to share their GitHub handle so we can include everyone needed when setting up your repo.

What geographic area will your ProtoSchool chapter serve?
In most cases, this should be a city. (Don't forget to add your location to the title of this issue as well!)

What should we call your repo?
In almost all cases, this will be the name of your city, with hyphens if multiple words, such as los-angeles.

Have you read and do you agree to abide by the ProtoSchool Code of Conduct?
All chapter organizers must review and agree to abide by the overarching ProtoSchool Code of Conduct.

How should Code of Conduct violations within your chapter be reported?
Although ProtoSchool has an overarching Code of Conduct for the community as a whole, it will be your responsibility as a chapter organizer to ensure an inclusive and welcoming community by enforcing a Code of Conduct specific to your own chapter's repo, website (if applicable), and live events. Please provide your name(s), email address(es) and any additional contact information that your members may use to report any violations of your chapter's Code of Conduct. All contact information provided should belong to a specific individual, not a corporation.

@sakshamtaneja21 Thank you so much for your interest in sharing ProtoSchool’s content with folks in your area!

We’re currently in the process of redesigning the way we support local event leaders so that we can provide great educational resources to a broader number of volunteers in a more straightforward and scalable manner, including allowing multiple groups in the same city to share our content. It’s our intention to roll out some new tools and guidance later this quarter once we’ve had a chance to do our research and get our plans in order.

For the time being, we’re putting a temporary hold on creating new chapters/repos so that we can focus on building the educational resources and tools that will help local leaders and learners succeed. However, we’re still excited to have you help educate folks in your area!

Between now and our announcement later this quarter, I’d ask you to refrain from referring to your group as a ProtoSchool chapter, but invite you to share our content at your local events. You should feel free to label a specific event offered by your group as a ProtoSchool workshop if it meets all of these criteria:

  • Offers learners the chance to work through one of the ProtoSchool tutorials in person with support from mentors
  • Advertises and enforces a Code of Conduct in line with the global ProtoSchool Code of Conduct (learn more)
  • Is an educational event (not promotional or commercial)
  • Is not-for-profit (free or low cost to attendees)

If you announce such an event on Twitter, please be sure to tag us (@ProtoSchool) for reach.

I’m going to leave this issue open and label it as on hold for the time being to ensure that I circle back with you once our new leadership model is announced. In the meantime, feel free to email us with questions, and I hope you’ll check out our resources on organizing ProtoSchool events. We’re really excited to have you share our tutorials with your local community!

Great news for you, @sakshamtaneja21!

We now have a process for submitting upcoming ProtoSchool workshops to be included on our website! We expect to launch this new site feature within the next couple of weeks, so please review this issue now to learn about qualifying events and how to submit. We need event data before we can launch!

Please note that this opportunity is open to everyone. Whether you want to lead a single workshop at a conference or incorporate our curriculum into the content of a longstanding meetup, we're eager to have you share ProtoSchool's content with your local community. Be sure to check out our resources for event organizers.

I'll be in touch again later this month with more updates on the new community leadership model and an upcoming ProtoSchool newsletter. In the meantime, please feel free to email us with questions!

Hi there, @sakshamtaneja21!

Just reaching out to ensure you've seen the official announcement on our new event-based community model for ProtoSchool, which replaces our chapter-based model. With the implementation of this new system, you'll no longer need a chapter to host ProtoSchool workshops, so I'll close out this issue.

Under the new event-based model, hosting ProtoSchool workshops is easier than ever. Please check out our readme for all the details you need to get started. (Safety comes first, of course, so please refer to guidance from your local health authorities around COVID-19 before scheduling any gatherings.)

I'd also like to invite you subscribe to our newsletter so we can keep you informed of news and resources for local organizers. (Be sure to check the Local Leadership Updates box.)

Looking forward to working with you as you host local events in your community. Thanks again for volunteering!
