Introduce Yourself
Hi, I would like to start a ProtoSchool chapter for Korea. I am @datalinekr on twitter and work at project.
I have been using IPFS and IPLD for 6 months and would like to help others learn as well.
I am very interested in IPFS, and I am conducting technical seminars on IPFS and Filecoin with Korean people.
IPFS related videos are also produced and shared on YouTube.
I will continue to produce and upload related materials in the future. And I'll do our best to promote IPFS technology in Korea.

Thank you so much for your interest in sharing ProtoSchool’s content with folks in your area!

We’re currently in the process of doing some user research and redesigning the way we support local event leaders so that we can provide great educational resources to a broader number of volunteers in a more straightforward and scalable manner, including allowing multiple groups in the same city to share our content. It’s our intention to roll out some new tools and guidance in Q1 of 2020 once we’ve had a chance to do our research and get our plans in order.

We’d love your input as we make our plans. Please complete this survey if you’d like to share your thoughts!

For the time being, we’re putting a temporary hold on creating new chapters/repos so that we can focus on building the educational resources and tools that will help local leaders and learners succeed. However, we’re still excited to have you help educate folks in your area!

Between now and our announcement in Q1, I’d ask you to refrain from referring to your group as a ProtoSchool chapter, but invite you to share our content at your local events. You should feel free to label a specific event offered by your group as a ProtoSchool workshop if it meets all of these criteria:

  • Offers learners the chance to work through one of the ProtoSchool tutorials in person with support from mentors
  • Advertises and enforces a Code of Conduct in line with the global ProtoSchool Code of Conduct (learn more)
  • Is an educational event (not promotional or commercial)
  • Is not-for-profit (free or low cost to attendees)

I’m going to leave this issue open and label it as on hold for the time being to ensure that I circle back with you once our new leadership model is announced in Q1. In the meantime, feel free to email us with questions, and I hope you’ll check out our resources on organizing ProtoSchool events. We’re really excited to have you share our tutorials with your local community!

Great news for you, @jjang12!

We now have a process for submitting upcoming ProtoSchool workshops to be included on our website! We expect to launch this new site feature within the next couple of weeks, so please review this issue now to learn about qualifying events and how to submit. We need event data before we can launch!

Please note that this opportunity is open to everyone. Whether you want to lead a single workshop at a conference or incorporate our curriculum into the content of a longstanding meetup, we're eager to have you share ProtoSchool's content with your local community. Be sure to check out our resources for event organizers.

I'll be in touch again later this month with more updates on the new community leadership model and an upcoming ProtoSchool newsletter. In the meantime, please feel free to email us with questions!

Hi there, @jjang12!

Just reaching out to ensure you've seen the official announcement on our new event-based community model for ProtoSchool, which replaces our chapter-based model. With the implementation of this new system, you'll no longer need a chapter to host ProtoSchool workshops, so I'll close out this issue.

Under the new event-based model, hosting ProtoSchool workshops is easier than ever. Please check out our readme for all the details you need to get started. (Safety comes first, of course, so please refer to guidance from your local health authorities around COVID-19 before scheduling any gatherings.)

I'd also like to invite you subscribe to our newsletter so we can keep you informed of news and resources for local organizers. (Be sure to check the Local Leadership Updates box.)

Looking forward to working with you as you host local events in your community. Thanks again for volunteering!
