There was a Request For Package of this and someone mentioned in the Debian Rust team IRC channel, effectively fulfilling #150.
I made some efforts patching it for packaging, mostly aligning dependencies with what we have in Debian, and the result is this PR (thus not using the latest rustyline 14.0; it's not packaged yet). Includes #136, of which I wasn't aware until trying to create this PR, an unfortunate (?) oversight.
There's a problem with (supposedly) removing the libc-stdhandle workaround for rustyline. According to kkawakam/rustyline#599 there's a
rustyline::Behavior::PerferTerm
that supposedly handles that, but the resulting jless just plain exits, without any error. I don't really have insight on this.
