Salvage of #19787 by @discodirector onto current main. Cherry-picked with authorship preserved.

Summary

hermes mcp add <name> --url <url> silently drops into interactive chat instead of registering the MCP server, because argparse derives dest="command" from the --command flag name on the mcp add subparser, clobbering the top-level args.command = "mcp" to None. The dispatcher then falls through to cmd_chat.

Fix: declare the flag with dest="mcp_command". CLI flag name unchanged — only the in-memory attribute moves. Hit by @discodirector while building Sonoglyph for the hackathon (each player needs to register a unique MCP server, current workaround is onboarding players through a fix-the-bug prompt).

Changes

hermes_cli/main.py: --command flag on mcp add gets explicit dest="mcp_command", with a comment explaining the constraint.
hermes_cli/mcp_config.py: cmd_mcp_add reads getattr(args, "mcp_command", None).
tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_add_command_dest.py (new): 3 parser-level regression tests.
tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_config.py: mechanical rename of the _make_args kwarg and 4 call sites.
scripts/release.py: AUTHOR_MAP entry for @discodirector.

Validation

scripts/run_tests.sh tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_config.py tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_add_command_dest.py: 35/35 pass.
E2E: before fix, hermes mcp add example --url ... opens chat. After fix, cmd_mcp_add is actually invoked — connects to the endpoint, prompts for auth, attempts to register.

The --command flag of `hermes mcp add` shared its argparse dest with the top-level subparser (`dest="command"` in `hermes_cli/_parser.py`). When the flag was omitted, argparse still wrote `args.command = None`, clobbering the top-level value of `"mcp"`. The dispatcher then saw `args.command is None` and fell through to interactive chat, so `hermes mcp add ...` silently launched chat instead of registering the server. `cmd_mcp_add` was never reached. Use `dest="mcp_command"` on the flag and read it from `cmd_mcp_add`. The user-facing CLI flag `--command` is unchanged; only the in-memory namespace attribute moves. Also updates the `_make_args` helper in `tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_config.py` to populate the new dest, and adds `tests/hermes_cli/test_mcp_add_command_dest.py` with a parser- level regression test.
