Highlights from the release notes (cc @emilazy):

• The never-documented --nostalgia option has been removed. It was causing bug reports.
• Support for OSF/1 has been removed.

I'm going to do a set of builds in the stdenv, then assuming that goes well, I'm inclined to merge.

Thanks for the bump. We just threw away the current staging cycle and started a new one, so this can probably target staging-next if we merge ASAP. (nope, too late)

Yeah, this is at least 8 hours away from having me feel ready to click that button, and based on the fixes, there's no rush. It remains likely broken or oddly formed in small ways, like all GNU software (or all of life, really.)
