from cancelling individual worker copies submitted through
`_run_on_each_worker`; at lines 747-747, apply the same protection to
communicator worker copies and rank 0’s copy. Use submission-wide cancellation
semantics or make each queued copy non-cancellable, and add a regression case
with an occupied worker or rank and a cancelled queued copy to verify the
synchronized submission cannot leave other copies blocked.
- Line 525: Update MpiPoolSession.submit to use a session-level lock so all
worker copies for one submission are queued as a batch before another thread can
submit; add an overlapping-submission regression test in test_mpi_session.py
that verifies workers do not receive mixed task batches.
Review comments at @tests/unittest/llmapi/test_mpi_session.py:
- Line 77: Bound the `executor.submit_sync(worker_rank)` scenario so a worker
that misses `_run_on_each_worker`’s barrier cannot hang the test indefinitely.
Add a deadline for the wait and ensure teardown does not join a stuck pool;
preserve rank-safe setup and teardown.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winSerialize each pool submission batch.
This loop enqueues one copy per worker without a session-level lock. Two concurrent
submit()calls can interleave their copies. Workers can then pass the same barrier while running different tasks. If those tasks use collectives, ranks can cross-match calls, return incorrect results, or hang.Lock the complete submission loop. Add a concurrent
submit_syncregression with distinct all-reduce payloads intests/unittest/llmapi/test_mpi_session.py. The supplied test at Lines 67-81 covers a busy worker, not overlapping submissions. As per path instructions, cover this changed ordering behavior with a regression test.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

298-299: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAdd failure-output regression coverage.
The PR adds MPI-session tests, but they cover rank pinning and successful subprocesses. They do not assert that a failing
check_outputcall includes capturedstdoutandstderrinCalledProcessErrorWithOutput.Add a focused test for this behavior.
test_mpi_session.pyis already listed inl0_a100.ymlandl0_cpu.yml.Test coverage summary: the changed tests cover one-task-per-worker scheduling, concurrent submissions, environment forwarding, and temporary-directory handling. Failure-message coverage remains insufficient.

724-724: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winTest rejection of an incompatible communicator.
The pinning test uses the default communicator, so it does not exercise the new rejection branch. The integration test sets
sessionas the process-wide communicator before constructingMpiCommSession, so it covers only a compatible communicator. Add a four-rank case that constructsMpiCommSession(comm=MPI.COMM_SELF, n_workers=1)on rank 0 and assertsValueErrorbefore executor creation.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

809-809: 🩺 Stability & Availability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAdd a two-session dispatcher regression test.
MPINodeState._global_rank0_dispatcheris shared byMpiCommSessioninstances. The current pinning test creates one session and only submits from multiple threads on that instance. It does not check queue ordering between two sessions that share the dispatcher.Create two
MpiCommSessionobjects onMPI.COMM_WORLD. Submit collective tasks with distinct markers from both sessions concurrently, then assert that each session receives the expected results. Shut down both sessions before closing the global executor.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Dev Engineer Review
MpiPoolSession.submitserializes worker copies and synchronizes them with barriers.MpiCommSession.submitapplies rank-once synchronization and dispatches rank 0 work through a shared single-thread executor. Communicators must be identical or congruent to the process-wide MPI communicator.Worker environment forwarding and FlashInfer workspace isolation also changed.
CalledProcessErrorWithOutputincludes captured stdout and stderr in failure messages. Test results and current review findings were not supplied.QA Engineer Review
tests/unittest/llmapi/test_mpi_session.pyadds coverage for per-worker and per-rank execution, concurrent submissions, and communicator pinning. It also bounds future waits and subprocess execution._mpi_session_test_tasks.pyadds helper tasks, and_run_mpi_comm_session_pinning.pyadds an MPI scenario for busy-worker and concurrent collective submissions. The test module is listed in the CPU and A100
test-dbconfigurations. No test-list changes are reported. Test results are unavailable. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up.Per-File QA Perspective

Verify formatting for text and byte streams.tests/unittest/llmapi/_mpi_session_test_tasks.py: Adds rank, delay, and all-reduce helper tasks. The listedtest_mpi_session.pymodule invokes it.tests/unittest/llmapi/test_mpi_session.py: Adds MPI pinning and concurrent-submission coverage, and bounds waits in pool and subprocess tests. The module is listed in CPU and A100test-dbconfigurations.Description
mpi4py.futures.pool.MPIPoolExecutoris aPoolExecutor, which means the submitted tasks get scheduled on whatever rank that's idling. However, ourMpi{Pool,Comm}Session.submit/submit_syncassume that the tasks are one-per-rank. This usually happens to be the case because the submitted tasks equals the number of ranks and they runs slowly, but the test in question runs a quick task and randomly fails. The fix ensure the expected behavior by adding a barrier.
Also fixed another issue in the same test file that the pytest-generated temp dir sometimes exceeds the 107-character limit of socket file name.
The timeout mechanism for the test file is updated to use the shared
popenfamily utilities intrt_test_alternative.pythat correctly cleans up subprocesses and reports output.Test Coverage
