Add vectorized variants of scale_1x128_kernel and scale_1x128_reshape_kernel: 16 lanes own one 128-wide group, each loading its 8 inputs with one 16-byte load, reducing the group amax with warp shuffles, and storing its 8 outputs with one 8-byte store. Partial last groups are handled in the same kernel. The host launchers pick the vectorized kernel when every row holds whole 16-byte lane chunks and the input and output are 16- and 8-byte aligned, and otherwise launch the existing element-wise kernels unchanged. The arithmetic, including the UE8M0 scale, is the same, so outputs are bit-identical. Signed-off-by: Ruocheng Jia <ruochengj@nvidia.com>
…5.3-Flash dsv3_router_gemm_op has low-latency kernels only for 256 experts, so the GLM-5.3-Flash router (288 experts x hidden 4096) fell back to cuBLAS. Instantiate invokeRouterGemm for 288 x 4096 at 1-16 tokens and dispatch to it; every other shape keeps the cuBLAS fallback. The low-latency kernels load both operands in 16-byte chunks, and an input starting 8 bytes past a 16-byte boundary raised a misaligned-address error. Such an operand is now copied to an aligned buffer first; cuBLAS is not a safe fallback because it also rejects that input for some shapes. test_router_gemm_run now parametrizes explicit (experts, hidden) pairs, so 288 x 4096 runs the new kernel, and adds an 8-byte storage offset. Signed-off-by: Ruocheng Jia <ruochengj@nvidia.com>
The low-latency router kernels and the cuBLAS fallback both read rows of hidden_dim elements starting on a 16-byte boundary, so a padded or misaligned operand gave wrong logits or a CUDA error on either path. Copy such an operand into a packed, aligned layout once and pass it to whichever path runs; packed, aligned operands are used as is. Also require the weight dtype to match the input before taking the BF16 kernels. test_router_gemm_run now builds both operands packed, 8 bytes past a 16-byte boundary, or sliced from wider rows, and checks the logits with a tolerance matching FP32 accumulation-order differences. Description
Two C++ kernel speedups found on GLM-5.3-Flash, one commit each. The FP8 quantization change is bit-identical to main. The router GEMM change replaces cuBLAS with a kernel that accumulates in a different order, so the 288 x 4096 router logits change at FP32 rounding level.
1. Vectorized BF16-to-FP8 1x128 activation quantization
scale_1x128_kernel(behindfp8_quantize_1x128and the FP8 block-scale GEMM runners) andscale_1x128_reshape_kernel(behindfp8_batched_quantize_1x128_permute102, the MLA BMM operand) use one warp per 128-wide group, with two 4-byte loads and four 1-byte stores per lane. This PR adds vectorized variants: 16 lanes own one group, each loads its 8 inputs with one 16-byte load, the group amax is reduced with 4 warp shuffles, and each lane stores its 8 outputs with one 8-byte store. Partial last groups (for example K = 576) are handled in the same kernel. The scale arithmetic, including UE8M0 rounding, is copied unchanged.
The host launchers choose the vectorized kernel when every row holds whole 16-byte lane chunks (
dim_xand the row stride divisible by 8) and the input and output are 16- and 8-byte aligned. Otherwise they launch the existing element-wise kernels unchanged, so unaligned inputs run the same code as before.Kernel time (B200, profiler-measured kernel duration, median of 5 x 200 launches). All 88 benchmarked cases are bit-identical to main (FP8 bytes and scales).
No benchmarked case is slower: M from 1 to 16384, K in {576, 2048, 4096, 7168}, with and without UE8M0. Small M is launch-bound and unchanged (about 1.9 us).
End-to-end: GLM-5.3-Flash with
trtllm-serveat TP4/EP4, MTP3,max_num_tokens16384,max_seq_len131072, on 4x B200, aiperf with sonnet prompts, ISL 13312 / OSL 33. Both builds use the same Python code (main); only the native library differs. Medians over 4 rounds from 2 server instances per build.Gain is the improvement over main: the reduction for latencies, the increase for throughput.
Memory is unchanged (warmup peak 98.88 GiB, KV cache 61.20 GiB per GPU on both builds).
2. 288-expert dsv3 router GEMM instantiation
dsv3_router_gemm_ophas low-latency kernels only for 256 experts (hidden 7168 / 6144 / 4096). The expert count is part ofshape_ok, so any other count, including GLM-5.3-Flash's 288 experts x hidden 4096, silently falls back to cuBLAS. This PR instantiatesinvokeRouterGemm<__nv_bfloat16, N, 288, 4096>for N = 1..16, moves the expert-count check into each dispatch branch, and adds a branch for 288 x 4096. Every other shape keeps the cuBLAS fallback. Both the low-latency kernels and the cuBLAS fallback read rows of
hidden_dimelements starting on a 16-byte boundary, but the op checked neither the row pitch nor the alignment. On main, an operand sliced from wider rows gives wrong logits on both paths, and one starting 8 bytes past a 16-byte boundary raises a CUDA error (misaligned address in the 256-expert kernels, a cuBLASLt error in the fallback for 256 x 7168 at 1-8 tokens). Such an operand is now copied once into a packed, aligned layout and passed to whichever path runs; packed, aligned operands, as the model passes them, are used without a copy. The BF16 kernels also now require the weight dtype to match the input. The new kernel accumulates in a different order from cuBLAS: on the same input, most of the 288 x 4096 logits differ in the last FP32 bits (max absolute difference about 3.5e-4 on random data). Accuracy with this kernel in the model is covered by #20389's GSM8K once both PRs are in; the end-to-end numbers below run main's Python, which does not call this op.

Environment: B200,

Dev Engineer Review
The change adds vectorized 1×128 quantization kernels for standard and reshaped inputs. The vectorized path requires compatible dimensions and strides, plus input and output alignment. Unsupported layouts retain the element-wise path. The reshape path disables UE8M0 rounding.
The change adds a
dsv3_router_gemm_oppath for 288 experts, hidden size 4096, and 1–16 tokens. Other shapes retain the cuBLAS fallback. The operator packs operands when their hidden-dimension stride or pointer alignment does not meet the kernel requirements. The specialized path also requires matching input and weight dtypes. The router kernel accumulates in a different order from cuBLAS, so logits can differ at FP32 rounding precision. The reported model-accuracy follow-up depends on
#20389switchingGlm5NextGateto the baseDeepseekV3GateGEMM. The PR objectives report B200 test passes and performance results; independent execution is not established here. The reported merge-request pipelines failed, and no later successful merge-request pipeline is supplied. Review finding counts are unavailable.QA Engineer Review
Modified tests cover quantization parity for aligned and offset BF16 inputs, with UE8M0 enabled and disabled. Router GEMM tests cover expert counts 256, 288, and 896 across the specified hidden sizes, token counts 1–16, and packed, unaligned, and padded operands. The supplied test-list search found no matching entries in the CI or manual-QA lists.
Coverage verdict: needs follow-up. Unit tests cover the changed paths, but the router kernel’s model accuracy remains pending the stated integration coverage.
