This is a new feature

Brief Description *

Every time an ASF lance generates (even if allied) I find myself sighing and going through to remove the obnoxious bomb loads that inevitably have the same effect as a small area nuke. Given there is no way to effectively counter air attacks before they occur (no interception before they reach the map, no anti-air phase before bombing phase, etc), they simply need to be removed if they are not going to scale with the power of other things in the battlefield.

Currently, this is a tedious process of manually reviewing and changing every ASF unit on all teams, which inevitably fails when I want to just get to the action and forget "Oh yeah, bombs specific to this type of unit exist and are generated by default". I'm not sure if this is best prevented on MekHQ or Megamek side, but I think an option to just auto-strip hardpoint weaponry from any unit carrying bombs would be quick and easy to understand within Megamek.

This particular gremlin causes a fair number of relaunches when I'm going through and making sure the setup is playable, that units have a viable variety of munitions and reasonable pilots/bot logic/etc. which all contributes to frustration and walking away. This is one thing that people either like or don't like, and it feels like a viable candidate for an on/off button.

Despite being a large fan of bombers, I do agree that this would be a nice feature. AI bombers (even if "allied") are often as much of a threat to you as enemy forces, and recent changes to stratcon include many more air assets being entered into battles than previously. And Princess' tendency towards ammo now makes her use a lot of bombs if you allow her.
