Snowplow Javascript tags

Tools required (Snowplow chrome extension) for debugging

Recommended things to do

  1. Create a new profile for your browser using the mediajel email. This make everything much more organized.
  2. Add the following extensions which would help in creating and managing Tags.
  • Tag Assistant Legacy (by Google)
  • UET Tag Helper (by Microsoft Advertising)
  • Snowplow Inspector
  • Hoxx VPN Proxy

The Mediajel tracker

How to generate a mediajel tracker tag

  1. First go to the dashboard. It is either dojo or io, dojo is much safer.
  2. Then go to orgconfig > Click your profile at the top right then MediaJelAdmin (organizations home page)
  3. Click on the tracking tab at the top then new tracking tag at the right
  4. Specify a name and choose a cart then save. It should show up below.
  5. Click on the newly generated tag and it should have all the information needed such as App Id, Cart Platform, and the Generated Tag. On this area you can also choose to change the Name, App Id, and Cart Platform. image
  6. For tag installation, you can click on view instructions on the bottom part

How to check transactions (Kibana & Snowflake)

To check if the Tag is working (console)

  1. Go to the website that has the Tag installed
  2. Open the console (right click > inspect > console)
  3. Check the console if there is a tag / tracker that is working
  4. Another Check is to go to snowplow (same area as console > either on the far right or hidden in the ">>" button then snowplow). There should be data being passed to snowplow.

Definition of Terms

  • Pixel = Tag / Universal Tag (ex. Pixel Installation = Tag Installation)
  • Environment / Cart = Website / Shop that is hosting the customer? (ex. Shopify, Woocomerce, etc...)
  • Publishers = Sites and Apps and Domains
  • KT = Knowledge Transfer
