Hi thinkyhead,

Ok, you got to help me out a little. This will be the first time I will use GitHub, and thus just need to understand where I must get started.

Shall I firstly Fork RCBugFix?
I see the pull request is pending for the Greek Language changes you have made.

How do I get that codebase?

How do I get that codebase?

• Fork the Marlin repository to your account
• Clone your fork to your computer
• Add the upstream remote:
  • git remote add upstream git@github.com:MarlinFirmware/Marlin.git
• Fetch the repository:
  • git remote add thinkyhead git@github.com:thinkyhead/Marlin.git
  • git fetch thinkyhead
• Check out the branch that you want to modify:
  • git checkout thinkyhead/rc_greek_language -b my_greek_branch
• Make changes to the files
• Commit changes:
  • git add * ; git commit -m "Greek Language"
• Push the changes to your fork:
  • git push --set-upstream origin my_greek_branch
• Submit a Pull Request from your fork. The link will end up as:
  • https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/compare/RCBugFix...psavva:my_greek_branch?expand=1

Note that Greek is possible only on graphical displays, and will of course require a custom font.

I'm firstly working towards translating the actual labels.

I'll do this in UTF8 which supports Greek.

I'll come to you once I'm ready to put this on the printer to start testing.

I'll also need advice on how to get started on the font is/as required.

I'm busy looking for a basis of the font I'm creating for the Greek language.

I have found an open source fonts site that may help me do the job better.

They have the symbols which I need. Can we make use of it and include their licence file in Marlin?

It is open source and FLOSS (Free/Libre open source software), under their own licence called OFL ( open fonts licence)

@AnHardt you beat me to the addition of the font :)
I had made the changes to my local repo, but since I saw you did the same changes (almost 👍 ) I updated my report from @thinkyhead and discarded my changes.... At least I learned something new.

I am almost there with the translation. I'm having my translations reviewed by a friend of mine, and should have them ready some time next week.

Thank you both for helping me with this first attempt at helping with Marlin, and using Git :)

@psavva Thank you for this great contribution. Please continue to improve as you find time. I'm sure we will get some good feedback from Greek users upon release.
