When the markdown source contains an invalid markdown link (for example, one with an empty URL) the widget shows no content at all, and the browser console shows an error in URI.js, apparently caused by L152 of the widget controller.

Fixed on master (v1.7.0) and release-1.6.x (v1.6.2).
