Is this something that can be tested to ensure it doesn't get reintroduced at some point? |

Not really through a test. It is in principle possible to generate this function from the C header (or let both be generated) but it's very non-trivial to generate the bootstrap sequence automatically (especially since we can't do that with a julia script). |
