Relay Operation

OpenSuperClone can be used with generic USB-attached HID relay boards and the YEPKIT YKUSH series of switchable USB hubs to power-cycle drives.

To use the relay functionality, a primary relay board must be selected and relay activation must be chosen as an action in the Advanced Settings and/or Timer Settings.

Power-Cycling SATA Drives

Power for SATA attached drives is provided by a 5V and a 12V power rail. When power cycling those drives two relays are necessary to switch both rails.

Power-Cycling USB-Attached Drives

Power for USB attached drives is provided by a single 5V power rail. It is possible to cut open an USB extension cord, and connect the single wire for power through the USB relay. When doing so it is important to leave as much of the isolation of the cable intact otherwise the signal integrity will decrease resulting in lower transfer speeds and instability.

A more elegant approach is to use the YKUSH series of switchable USB hubs.
