chore: converge #985 with current #983 parent

Non-destructive stack convergence only. Merge exact current #983 parent 92e6016eefb3376132a0bd7f35a23b63efad4a87 into #985 feature branch so the successor inherits the deep-linked post cleanup regression without rewriting or dropping its own auth-boundary delta. This integration PR is not product acceptance, does not transfer checks/reviews, and must not be used to merge #985 to protected main.
