📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Replaces token-based widget/node filtering with Fuse.js fuzzy matching across widget name, label, value, and type, and applies fuzzy matching to node titles. Tests updated to expect fuzzy multi-match behavior (e.g., "high" returning two widget results).

Changes

Cohort / File(s) Summary
Fuzzy search implementation
src/components/rightSidePanel/shared.ts
Adds Fuse.js imports and types; introduces WidgetSearchItem and NodeSearchItem; replaces tokenized substring filtering with weighted Fuse-based fuzzy search for widgets and node titles. Updates control flow so node-title matches keep the whole node; otherwise widgets are filtered by fuzzy results. Method searchWidgets now accepts a query parameter.
Test updates
src/components/rightSidePanel/shared.test.ts
Adjusts tests for fuzzy matching: query "high" now yields two matches (e.g., widget named height and widget with value high) instead of a single exact-match result.

- Around line 71-80: The reverse-lookup over itemToSearchable in matchedItems is
O(n×m); change the mapping so the original is directly retrievable from the
searchable entry: when building itemToSearchable, either store entries keyed by
the searchable object to the original (swap the Map to Map<searchable,
original>) or attach a small property (e.g., original) onto the searchable
object; then update the matchedItems creation to use that direct reference (use
result.item.original or itemToSearchable.get(result.item)) instead of iterating
entries. Ensure all places that build or read itemToSearchable are updated to
the new shape.

Learning: In TypeScript test files (e.g., any test under src), avoid duplicating interface/type definitions. Import real type definitions from the component modules under test and reference them directly, so there is a single source of truth and to prevent type drift. This improves maintainability and consistency across tests.

Learning: In the ComfyUI_frontend repository, lint rules require keeping 'import type' statements separate from non-type imports, even if importing from the same module. Do not suggest consolidating them into a single import statement. Ensure type imports remain on their own line (import type { ... } from 'module') and regular imports stay on separate lines.

Learning: Prefer pure function declarations over function expressions (e.g., use function foo() { ... } instead of const foo = () => { ... }) for pure functions in the repository. Function declarations are more functional-leaning, offer better hoisting clarity, and can improve readability and tooling consistency. Apply this guideline across TypeScript files in Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend, including story and UI component code, except where a function expression is semantically required (e.g., callbacks, higher-order functions with closures).

Learning: When accessing reactive properties from Pinia stores in TypeScript files, avoid using .value on direct property access (e.g., useStore().isOverlayExpanded). Pinia auto-wraps refs when accessed directly, returning the primitive value. The .value accessor is only needed when destructuring store properties or when using storeToRefs().

Learning: In Vitest v4, when mocking functions that may be called as constructors (using new), the mock implementation must use function() or class syntax rather than an arrow function. Arrow mocks can cause '<anonymous> is not a constructor' errors. This is a breaking change from Vitest v3 where mocks could use an arrow function. Apply this guideline to test files that mock constructor-like calls (e.g., in tests under tests-ui, such as ComboWidget.test.ts) and ensure mock implementations are defined with function() { ... } or class { ... } to preserve constructor behavior.

Learning: In test files (e.g., any .test.ts or .test.tsx under src/...), when you create mock objects that partially implement an interface (such as LGraphNode), prefer casting with as Partial<InterfaceType> as InterfaceType rather than as any or as unknown as InterfaceType. This makes the incomplete implementation explicit while preserving type safety, improving readability and maintainability of tests.

src/components/rightSidePanel/shared.ts (4)

3-4: LGTM - imports follow the separate type import pattern.

The Fuse.js imports correctly use a separate import type statement for IFuseOptions, following the repository's lint rules for keeping type imports separate.

24-29: LGTM - well-structured type for search scaffolding.

The WidgetSearchItem type cleanly extends the generic parameter with searchable string fields.

85-89: LGTM - cleaner pattern for node title search.

The node search implementation correctly uses direct ID lookup from Fuse results, avoiding the Map iteration issue present in widget search. The approach is sound and efficient.

Also applies to: 105-120

122-134: LGTM - correct fallback logic for widget search.

The filter chain correctly prioritizes node title matches (keeping all widgets) and falls back to widget-level search when the node title doesn't match.

src/components/rightSidePanel/shared.test.ts (2)

44-55: LGTM - good behavioral test for fuzzy matching.

The test correctly validates that fuzzy search matches both partial name matches ("height" for "high") and exact value matches ("high"), verifying the core Fuse.js integration behavior. The assertions check semantic results rather than implementation details.

57-65: No changes needed. The test correctly validates fuzzy search behavior with the current Fuse.js configuration. The query "image width" is treated as a single fuzzy search term (not AND logic), and it matches the widget with label "Image Width" after lowercasing because the searchableLabel ("image width") exactly matches the query. The widget with label "Image Height" correctly does not match since "image width" does not fuzzy match "image height" with the threshold of 0.3. The tokenize or useExtendedSearch options are not needed for this use case.

identifier and searchableTitle produced from node.getTitle().toLowerCase()) or
introduce a lightweight type (e.g., SearchIndexItem) and map to that, ensuring
widgets is not copied into the search index.

Learning: In the ComfyUI_frontend project, Zod is on v3.x. Do not suggest Zod v4 standalone validators (z.uuid, z.ulid, z.cuid2, z.nanoid) until an upgrade to Zod 4 is performed. When reviewing TypeScript files (e.g., src/platform/remote/comfyui/jobs/jobTypes.ts) validate against Zod 3 capabilities and avoid introducing v4-specific features; flag any proposal to upgrade or incorporate v4-only validators and propose staying with compatible 3.x patterns.

Learning: This repository uses CI automation to format code (pnpm format). Do not include manual formatting suggestions in code reviews for Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend. If formatting issues are detected, rely on the CI formatter or re-run pnpm format. Focus reviews on correctness, readability, performance, accessibility, and maintainability rather than style formatting.

Learning: In Vue/TypeScript files (src/**/*.{ts,tsx,vue}), prefer if/else statements over ternary operators when performing side effects or actions (e.g., mutating state, calling methods with side effects). Ternaries should be reserved for computing and returning values.

115-127: LGTM – Two-phase search logic is sound.

The approach of first matching node titles, then falling back to widget search for non-matching nodes, preserves the expected UX where a matching node title retains all its widgets.

Should we extract the search logic to a service or composable? To make it re-usable, testable, deduplicate, and potentially implement lifecycle hooks if they become necessary?

This search logic was reused in the entire right side panel. They use the same data structure and search widgets. I don't know the situation in other places.
