Summary

Prerequisite for #657, which asks for PublishAot linux-x64 + run to be added to the main ruleset's required status checks.

aot.yaml currently filters pull_request by paths: (src/**, the AotSmoke project, and the workflow file itself). A workflow skipped by a paths: filter reports nothing, not even "skipped". If the check were required with that filter in place, every docs-only, config-only or workflow-only PR would sit in "Waiting for status to be reported" forever. That includes most Dependabot PRs and every protected-file-only PR. ETL-SqlBulkCopy hit exactly this, and fixed it in its PR #279.

This PR removes the pull_request paths: filter and adds a DO NOT ADD ONE comment explaining why. The push and workflow_dispatch triggers are unchanged. The job took 38 s on the latest main run (38281508442).

aot.yaml is a protected file, so this PR changes only that file.

Refs #657. This PR does not close it; the ruleset change still has to be made afterwards.

After merge (Chris)

Add the check to ruleset 14452864 ("Protect main branch"). Agents can't change rulesets, so this step is yours:

pwsh C:\Source\GitHub\claude-sessions\scripts\Add-RequiredCheck.ps1 -Repository Chris-Wolfgang/ETL-Abstractions -Check "PublishAot linux-x64 + run"

Verified

  • actionlint passes and zizmor --offline reports no findings.
  • This PR's own checks should include PublishAot linux-x64 + run even though no src/ file changed. That is the end-to-end proof the filter is gone.

#657 makes 'PublishAot linux-x64 + run' a required status check. A
workflow skipped by a pull_request paths: filter reports nothing at all,
so with the filter in place every docs-, config- or workflow-only PR
would block forever waiting for it. The job takes ~40s.
